    Post Campaign is underway!!

    Finally!
After months of planning, practicing and talking about it, my Bellerophon campaign finally got underway last night!

Even with only one player (my wife, who's playing a Bajoran Starfleet doctor, CMO of the Bellerophon), and not set on the name ship of the campaign (we were actually on DS9), my first ever LUGTrek game was a blast!

Using all the advice I've gained here, plus the superb narrator's toolkits and the Core Book, the game session had a wonderful episodic feel to it, right down to the climactic battle between Dr (Lt) Sito Rana (Jaxa's older sister) and Len Nashar, one of the Kohn Mahr's most psychotic members who has haunted Rana since she was 16 and in the Resistance.

The scene was one that will go down in our gaming history books as something that should have been in an episode - with her runabout (the Orinoco) in orbit and commands tied thru her commbadge, Sito was in a hand-to-hand fight with Len; he armed with a vibroblade and she with a club. At the final, climactic moment, reminiscent of the end of the first Diehard movie, she forces him off the edge of the cliff they're on, and he starts to fall, but grabs her uniform front. Staggering under his weight, with him laughing maniacally about taking her with him, all seemed lost - until my wife grinned and said: "Orinoco computer - one to beam up!"
Just the imagined look on Len Nashar's face as she dematerialised and left him falling 200 metres to his death made the entire session worthwhile!

Sorry to be going on about this...I'm just incredibly excited about actually running a game for the first time - and it went off without a hitch!

Anyway, I'll stop ear-bashing everybody now, just thought you'd be pleased to know another Narrator has joined your ranks!

    seeya,

    Hail and well met friend!

Welcome aboard. Please sit and have a drink...coffee? Jolt? Mountain Dew? Dr. Pepper? High caffine, friend of the storyteller

Tell us more of this campaign. It sounds like it got off to a dazzling start.

Of course he's not really dead right? He's only wounded and has to have new cyberparts put on and alien apendages and organs grafted on in the darkest Orion Syndicate supported ripper-docs!

I mean this guy sounds too good to not bring back in 10 or 12 sessions as a big surprise villan

Well, Nashar will be dead, but there were two ex-Kohn Mahr people who survived the climactic battle, and they'll undoubtedly come back into it at some stage.

As far as the campaign goes, it's only going to have 3 permanent players, plus an occasional fourth. My wife is playing Dr Sito Rana, the CMO of the Bellerophon; we also have Lt Cmdr David Morgan, the First Officer and Lt Monica Summers, the Chief Security Officer. My other mate, Paul, lives in Sydney and only gets down once or twice a year, so he'll just play special guest stars when he's here.

The campaign is set aboard the Intrepid-class USS Bellerophon NCC-74705, and when all the group can get together, we'll be starting off with the adventure in the Core Rules Book.

Focusing on Artleline Sector, we'll be playing thru "Season 1", which is 12 episodes long (and starts near the end of 2370), and will involve all the canned adventures of "A Fragile Peace", interspersed with my own, many developed from the seeds scattered thru the various sourcebooks.

So, "Season 1" is completely mapped out - Season 2 is a little more up in the air; it will take place along the Cardie DMZ, and be set from the end of 2371 to 2372, and cover a lot of the Klingon Crisis stuff, along with Orion Syndicate adventures and several early encounters with the Jem'Hadar.

Until my group can all get together to get underway, however, my wife and I are playing single-player games for her to get into character and to let me get used to the nuts & bolts of a LUGTrek campaign. So Tues. night's session was set prior to her taking her station aboard the Bellerophon - she's just finished a 4 month sabbatical on Bajor following the death of her sister, Sito Jaxa, and has another 6 weeks before needing to be on Starbase Sierra-39 to meet the Bellerophon.

The episode, No 100.1 "Old Friends, Long Gone..." was set on DS9 and Bajor, much of it during the DS9 episode Tribunal when Miles, Sisko and Odo were off the station (mainly 'cos I wanted Sito to have a more active role in solving the mystery than Odo would have allowed her).

Anyway, as I said, it went without a hitch.
I'm currently writing the episode up as a short-story (I intend to do this with the entire series, actually), which when finished I will post on my website. I'll keep you all posted.

    Damn, this game is good!

I am glad to hear your campaign is going so well, Aldaron. The Star Trek rpg truly is a great game, and your experiences proves it.

I am curious to know what you did in preparing for the game that took so much time.

At any rate, keep up the good work.

    Thanks for the encouragement!

Re; preparation time - I'm just obsessive-compulsive about stuff like that.

There was the development of the Excel-based roster generator, about 4 decks of an Intrepid-class I've done in Campaign Cartographer 2 so far, plus countless bits and pieces I've scoured from the 'Net.

Additionally, I've pretty much written the entire First Season's worth of adventures up, so I can sort of prepare a story "arc".

Coupled with how little time I have in the "real world", it just took me ages to do it!
