Of course, if we DO have the go-ahead for a supplemental book, we already know who to call!

    Jess.
    How about an early freebie?

btw, a starship sourcebook would definitly sell with gamers of this game. Its pretty much a must for Star Trek.

If I'm gonna put up a few freebies, they should probably help "whet the appetite" for the book -- which means about the time it hits stores, not a couple months earlier. I will ask, however, and see if our guys are copacetic with it!

The next "Starships" books should (IMO) be era- or quadrant-specific with less of a Starfleet slant. Another large book with tons of Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, Tholian, Breen, and Ferengi stuff with components and maneuvers custom-suited to those species. Really funky stuff. Then you do the same for the Delta Quadrant, for example. (I, of course, see endless possibilities there!)

If faction (alien) books ever make a return that'd also be another place to put these items. Imagine reading a big write-up on the Breen and towards the end, in a sidebar, are five Breen-specific maneuvers and three Breen-specific starship traits. Then in the Kazon section you find the same. Or the Tholian write-up.

Series-specific would be another route. If we ever do a Voyager book, as an example, I'd love to do a chapter on the Kazon, the different sects, their maneuvers, Trabe components, etc, etc. Same with the Hirogen, Species 8472, Voth, Krenim, Viidians, etc.

I see lots of potential to take the entire starship construction and combat system into almost as a line of its own. I feel the products need to go further. We talk about "tool oriented" and "crunchy bits"--well, here are some really easy crunchy bits that are begging to be used. I'd also like to do the same as Wizards and duplicate where necessary. A Breen write-up that references Breen maneuvers reprints those maneuvers--put what the reader needs in front of them (within reason). Shouldn't have to flip through five products to make your ship.

Oh well. Sorry for the tangent. Just thinking of some of the possibilities!
Hear, hear, Don! I'm 100% with everything you say here.

I hereby nominate Don to be Decipher's official starship grand poobah!

    Don,

I agree with all you have typed here, but your comments on Romulans have added to to my unfounded paranoia-Please tell the Roms get a fair showing in this up coming Starships book..

I mean enough that a Romulan campaign can survive without it being "Theres another D'Deridex Warbird" or "Gee the 100th Klingon D7 in Rom service" cry from players

If you ever do do (he said do-do) the Voyager book, please don't forget my favorite species ships, the night beings from "Night"

    Thanks

Now if only we could get Wiz Kids and Decipher to team up and make Star Trek Hero Clicks for ships

    Ok...I'll stop that now....

    Pancakes are pancakes here too.

I don't recall ever seeing an International House of Pancakes here in the UK.

On the same subject the World Series isn't.

    Now back to Starship stuff...

Tell ya what, bud, I was the monkey that hammered out the stuff for the Romulan ships. Proportionally speaking, they got a good showing

Will the images be colored on black like in the NG or will they be easire to see? (HHO1/2K)

I know you want to prevent people stealing them, but the colors make the details hard to see. Maybe the images could be bigger, and still remain coloured on black?

    Just curious and hopeful

Just checking. Is England still "Merry Old England" or is it just "Plain Old England" these days...no offense intended to anyone's "National Pride".

    Hi Dave Biggins (Good Monkey

    Thanks for that-

Can you give me any hints-like did you include anything at all from Nemesis-Is there a small "Starbird" type ship?

I realise I'm being a bad monkey asking this but I must know!

Well I can rest easier knowing the Star Empire will have a diverse fleet.

    Combat

Is this Starship book just a listing of ships or is there more to it such as what was found in LUG's Space Dock? I am more interested in advaced space combat rules and a more comprehensive damage system with more attention based on the direction. I loved Space Dock but thought the random roll for hit location a bit annoying sometime.

Anyway, I am still looking forward to this book and will be buying it.

My understanding is that it included three parts: a collection of ships to use in your campaigns, lots of new parts to add to your ships, and revised ship construction rules.

I think it has been stated several times that the RPG system (even post-Starship Book) will not be the tactical level system used by Spacedock.

Yep, there's lots of nifty new stuff in the Starships book, including an expansion on the Starship Creation rules.
