I was there for the early part of the process, and saw where things were going... Then I had a computer crash and was off-line for a couple of months, so I never had to sit through all the really bad stuff. I was interested in doing a chapter on Klingon ritual, as applied to a gaming environment. Klingons seem to have a ritual for everything, it seems, so I felt this was a vital part of creating the appropriate atmosphere...

On the other tentacle, since I wrote the Klingon tournament scenario for LUG's last Gencon/Origins, I saw most of the ICON version of the Klingon book, and it would've been cool - very cool. Unfortunately, I can't go beyond that due to the NDA.

    Okudians Vs Fordians

    Well Highlander.

It seems that truth was certainly stranger than fiction. I had heard about half that story previously...

Who would have though that such a small group of people could have ruined it for everybody else, and disintegrated a project under the weight of their own anal retentiveness...

And you know the funny part. Outside of the Klingon Language Institute, I dont really think theres that many people who can tell the difference between Okudian and Fordian Klingon. I know I dont know or care about the difference.

Good luck in finding this Klingon material, it should prove popular around here, I know I am looking forward to it. And feel free to insert the Honour rules above if you wish.

Tell me, with Klingon Character Generation was it ever decided if the KDF hstarted as Civilain templates (ie 36 points) or with 'fleet trained' templates (ie 54 points) or a mix of both???

Now thats a shame. the ritual as a game tool would have made a nice touch...

    I remember you, Owen.

Don't get me wrong, it would have been great to have background on many parts of Klingon life, but it was getting to be way, way out of hand.

To answer your question, Dan, I believe it may have been a mix of both.

And what you said above was right -- a perfectly good project was totalled for no good reason. People that were more than willing to contribute were driven off. And it didn't have to happen!

I am of the same opinion as you on the language; Fordian or Okudian -- what's the bleeping difference?

Like I said, if I can't find the actual computer file, I will make copies of the printout available to anyone who will cover the copying and mailing cost. It's the least I can do.

I was also on the project. I do have the file. It was never completed but everything that was done is in it. Feel free to send me an email off line and i will send it too you.

As a side note the yahoo group exsists and a few people still post some general stuff there. Someone actually threw out the idea of doing the coda klingon book, but as far as i know that idea hasn't gone anywhere.

IceGiant! Hey -- long time no hear!

I just got back on the project site yesterday and found the draft. Who knew that damn thing was going to go over 130 pages,eh?

I don't think that idea is going anywhere too -- what say between you and me we provide the file to anyone who wants it, eh?

Tell ya what I'm gonna do...

I have two separate files available:

    1. The Character Generation section, which I worked on as part of the project. Great if you want to just create better-detailed Klingon characters. I still use it myself.

    2. The 1st draft of the entire book. It's detailed, and runs over 130 pgs. A warning -- it's heavy on Klingon language, so if you want this, be ready to do some heavy reading.

If you want either one, all you need to do is contact me privately and I will email either file to you.

    Hi there!
Now, what happened to the Klingon Character creation rules? And...it sounds like there must be some more stuff out there. Doesn't anyone think that now...when the dust has settled down...it might be a good time to publish all that remaining stuff? It must be somewhere on someones harddisk!
As you wrote it was almost ready to be published and we have those to fine previews...where is the rest of the book(s)?
