If people are reluctant to play because 'there isn't enough action in Star Trek', try asking them if they saw the beginning of the sixth season of DS9 (or the ending of the seventh). If they say no, tell them that they need to revise their opinions because the Dominion War changed to face of 'peaceful' Star Trek.
Now, Star Trek's philosophy hasn't changed, of course, but if people like action-packed RPGs with lots of battle, just run through the Dominion War - Fires of Armageddon book. If they think Starfleet doesn't have hard enough weapons, just show them Spacedock. And best of all, both of these can be downloaded for free![]()
well, i'm suffering of a stranger problem, doctor....
there's someone else in my gaming group who has the ICON version of STRPG but, after i ran a 30-adventures campaign, he refuses to run one because he thinks he can't compare to me !!! then my group asks me to run another one...
what should i do ???
run a poor campaign, reducing my "god-level" so my friend will dare run his ?
run a campaign the way i did the other one, effectively ruining my chances to play someday ??
Please, help me, i don't know what i can do....![]()

A+
Steelvow, Prophet of The BouinG.
steelvow, you could suggest your friend to run a trial game, to see how he fares. A good thing for that is the "holodeck story", with the characters being for instance on a StarFleet training holoprogram (that way they can't affect their environment like on a normal holodeck, but they don't risk their lives either). After that, your friend could see how exactly he compares to you.

"The main difference between Trekkies and Manchester United fans is that Trekkies never trashed a train carriage. So why are the Trekkies the social outcasts?"

I also fall into the caegory of not being allowed to play. I have a regular group that constantly want to make new characters.. every three or four games they decide to play something different. They suggest what they want to play. So while they make characters I try and build a game. But it seems that I am the only one who ever gm's. I have a second goroup that is into campaigns but that group only meets once a month. and then I get to play.. the first group ususlly meets every week.
May your worlds be at peace. Never assume, that the pointy eared first officer is Vulcan.

Race for Starfleet is open to Andorian, Bajoran, Benzite, Betazoid, Bolian, Centauran, Grazerite, Human, Napean, Tellarite, Tiburonian, Trill, Vulcan, Zakdorn as well as Racially-Mixed. There are other races for civilian types.Code:=========================| Anomaly Chain of Command |========================== * Commanding Officer Balin Commander Yeoman -- Available -- * Executive Officer Edwards Lt Commander Diplomatic Attache Idrani Ensign Crew Management Officer Jackson Ensign Yeoman Coiseos Chief * Second Officer Ghorev Lieutenant Training Officer Poole Lieutenant JG Cultural Resource Officer -- Available -- Yeoman -- Available -- * Acting Operations Manager McAnally Lieutenant JG * Asst Operations Manager Tahlandi Lieutenant JG * Flight Deck Control -- Available -- Junior Flight Deck Con Kentoz Ensign Systems Manager -- Available -- Junior Systems Manager -- Available -- Quartermaster Drennan Lieutenant JG Junior Quartermaster -- Available -- * Mission Operations Spect Ensign Junior Mission Ops -- Available -- Romulan Liaison Officer Jolvan Sublieutenant Andorian Defense Liaison -- Available -- * Chief of Engineering Ghorev Lieutenant * Assistant Chief Nevaren Lieutenant JG * Core Systems Engineer -- Available -- Computer Systems -- Available -- Environmental Systems -- Available -- Weapons Systems Ashilav Ensign Comm/Sensor Systems Blair Ensign * Structural Engineer -- Available -- Junior Structural -- Available -- * Power Plant Engineer Bela Ensign Reactor Engineer -- Available -- * Vehicle Maintenance -- Available -- Vehicle Maint Chief O'Doherty Chief * Chief of Security Dakin Lieutenant * Asst Chief of Security Havaris Lieutenant JG * Tactical Duty Officer -- Available -- Junior Tactical Leah Ensign * Security Duty Officer Rivers Lieutenant JG Junior Security Saxby Ensign Junior Security -- Available -- Junior Security Raioth Ensign * Armory Officer Sulkat Lieutenant JG Junior Armory -- Available -- * Rapid Response Golden Lieutenant JG * Rapid Response -- Available -- Rapid Response -- Available -- Rapid Response -- Available -- Chief Medical Officer Clough Lieutenant Acting Asst CMO Haven Lieutenant JG Medical Officer - Alpha McNeill Lieutenant JG Nurse Baran Ensign Medical Officer - Beta Lightfoot Lieutenant JG Nurse -- Available -- * RRT Medical Officer T'sal Lieutenant JG * Combat Medic -- Available -- Counselor Park Lieutenant JG Assistant Counselor Semok Lieutenant JG Junior Counselor Gellan Ensign Junior Counselor -- Available -- * Science Officer P'Trell Lieutenant * Asst Science Officer Laco Lieutenant JG Astrometrics -- Available -- Lab Technician -- Available -- Lab Technician Zero Ensign Biosciences Sukhar Sublieutenant Lab Technician Laran Ensign Planetary Sciences -- Available -- Lab Technician -- Available -- Social Sciences -- Available -- Lab Technician Zian Ensign Physical Sciences -- Available -- Lab Technician -- Available -- Research Archivist -- Available -- Core Project Tyler Ensign ==========================| * Denotes Line Officer |===========================
We limit rank to Lieutenant JG for junior officers and Lt for Senior Officers (which is obtainable only through in-character promotions). I honestly think it is more fun to start as an Ensign and work your way up the ladder in-character - it gives one something to shoot for.
If you log in and check the staff list (type +staff), you are welcome to ask for assistance. Our players, too, are knowledgeable and helpful (though they can't answer questions with difinity as staff can). I know that the process is overwhelming, but the extensive character creation process keeps out the riff-raff. If you're serious about wanting to play though, you'll make it. If your application is denied, my staff will always let you know what needs to be fixed.
We're going to be holding an Open House in October that will allow people to visit, assume a stock character, and play on the grid without the lengthy chargen process. I think if you get a taste of our own brand of roleplay, you'll want to stick around. We will also be holding the largest episode in Anomaly's history: four writers all running the same plot in our story-arc: the battle for Occa Prime against the Jem'Hadar.
To check out some of our episodes (we log everything!) and how we play, head to the web page and click on 'Log Entries'. Those are our episodes over the past three years. Anomaly has a difinitive story-arc that is being played out, it isn't just random events. The most recent episodes are stored on the game itself until ready to be printed to HTML.
Take some time to get into it, and I promise you will not be disappointed.
I wouldn't mind an Elaysian - I know they're your favorite race (unless I'm confusing you with someone else - maybe it was Lt Khrys Antos). While there isn't one in our list of statted races, some sort of accomodation can be made if you're interested in playing one on Anomaly.Originally posted by Perrryyy
I guess I'm gonna have to sit down & force myself to go through the character creation process from beginning to end![]()

I'd probably be content to play a Vulcan (once I sit down & create one) until Elaysians become available (take your time, no rush!)
I've modified Dan Gurden's Elaysian template for use with the game and statted it up. It's now available for play.![]()

I apologize if it sounded like I was twisting your arm, I really wasn't trying to.
I'll create a character later this week
Thanks again![]()
Here is Anomaly's Census Report. It shows how many players are attributed to each Race and Occupation. Note that occupations may not tally up to what you see in the above roster, as there are NPCs who are statted but not on the roster.

It took me all of five minutes to do. You're welcome, and I hope you do come by and give us a try.
A couple of skills I might suggest (and specs)
Shipboard systems (Computers)
Systems Engineering (computers)
Planetside Survival (Zero-G) (currently substituting Mountains)
I so know how it goes. I am the narrator for my groups Trek campaign. I actually am not happy being the narrator. But I do enjoy the comraderie of our group so I keep trying to come up with new challenges. I want to play the game, I don't care what position I play, I just wanna play and not have to worry about running the blasted game.
I guess I'm stuck though. My friends are addicted to the storyline I have created, and there doesn't seem to be any way out for me. "Doomed I tell you. Doomed."
I think, therefore I...<BELLLLCCCHH> oops. ^_^
