    "Enterprise" and Yesterday's Enterprise

Here's on for the continuity p...eople

So I'm watching Yesterday's Enterprise the other day, and Riker mentions the "pasting" they handed the Klingons on ... drum roll ... Archer IV. Even after the timeline is restored, Picard says to set course for Archer IV. Any bets on when they'll work that into Enterprise?

Just a fun little pseudo-historical footnote. I thought.

    Question

I don't get it. Was Archer IV mentioned in Enterprise somewhere?

I thought the "pasting on Archer IV" that Riker mentioned was a reference to a battle in the alternate time.

Well maybe Archer IV still exists in the normal timeline (might have been the place of a confrontation between Federation and the Klingons)... wich would make it belonging to a system whose name looks a lot like that of a certain Captain...

I just saw that episode the other day, and caught the Archer IV reference, but, IIRC, the 'proper' Enterprise still went to Archer IV after the correction of the timeline.

It seems as though it exists in both timelines, and probably should, given the placement of the Archer's in Federation (and Starfleet) history...

Though, obviously, I don't think that the reference to Archer IV has anything to do with Jonathon Archer or his father, it's still something that'd make for a neat tie-in, for roleplaying purposes (or perhaps for writing purposes, such as the Trek fanfic contest).

Trek fanfic contest? Are you referring to the short story contest Pocket Books runs every year? If so, sounds like you've got a premise for a story there. Write it and send it in. The deadline's not for another month.

Oh, no! No idea from me! I've tried to think of stories before, but I lack the drive, motivation and general interest to write a story for the Trek contest...

Geez, that sounded really depressing, didn't it?

Still, I think it could make for a pretty interesting story, if someone had the urge to write it.

It didn't when it was originally written, but that doesn't mean it won't now. For all we know, that's where the inspiration for the name came from. I'm not saying this will ever have anything to do with Enterprise the series, but you never know. If the system was named after one of the Archers, I doubt the captain would have named it, so we probably wouldn't see it in the scope of the series. On the other hand it could be referenced while in a future time-frame (such as Jonathan is in now) just to pull a reaction from him -- like Cochrane and the statue bit in FC.

Why should B&B pay any attention to continuity bits?
