According to Rob Vaux over on the RPG.NET message boards, it was a one-book license, giving Henson the option to renew.

Meaning AEG did their one book, and whether there will be more books or not is entirely up to Henson & Co.

Speaking as a person who believes that Babylon 5 was one of the best science fiction series on the air -- better even than much Trek -- I didn't like Legend at all. I wondered, after the movie, just how much JMS involvement there was.

Apparently, there's a general network trend (not just Fox) away from television production services, towards owning the shows. It can only hurt the variety and quality out there, since it will restrict the source. And that, in turn, will drive the free networks towards their demise even faster.

When AEG first started advertising that it was doing Farscape it listed several supplements it had planned as well on their site, when did it become a one book wonnder?

As a regular browers on AEG's site, I don't recall any supplements -- and I specifically looked for them, as one of my good friends (Gavin Downing) was one of their freelancers, and he'd have wanted a piece of the supplements (A bigger Farscape fan you will never find).

    Unhappy

What's interesting is that AEG announced that the Farscape corebook would be a "standalone" and less than a week later we find out that the show itself has been cancelled. Kind of sad really....especially since I ordered the rpg for a friend just to find out that the show was cancelled the next day. I only hope that the book brightens their day a bit...

Easily the biggest programming mistake was taking off 'Greg the Bunny' -- had to be one of the funniest shows I've ever seen...

I guess if it's not WWF, a cop or lawyer show, or some white trailer trash that talking about screwing their family members on a talk show, it doesn't last.

GtB was like Meet The Feebles lite, but good nonetheless. I really, really hate that it was cancelled and then Fox backed out of airing the final two episodes, despite promising to air them all at the end of the summer.

Like it or not folks, but middle America controls the airwaves, folks who don't want to think when they watch TV but instead want to just tune out and veg.

This is why smart comedies like GtB or (insert your favorite concelled comedy here) get cancelled but the tired old Honeymooners rehashes like "King of Queens" and "Everybody Loves Raymond" will stay on the air.

"Politically Incorrect" and "Denis Miller Live" are now gone... what's next "The Daily Show"?

The dumber and less witty the airwaves get, the same reflects in society.

I say the hell with TV, let's all read books and put them out of business

Okay well let's watch only good TV

Goodbye Farscape, we hardly got to know you.

Ok it was some months ago since I saw them, but when I first started looking for Farscape on the AEG site, last fall I think, they had listed on the online catalog 2 (I think) other books for the Farscape line. One was a Planetary sourcebook, there was also a Equipment Guide and I think there was one other as well (not sure on that though.) I had noticed over the last few months they had removed all mention of them, perhaps they were in on the winds of change, and pulled the plug on the line. Sigh, oh well.

BTW where was it mentioned that Farscape would be only one book on the AEG site?

    It wasn't.

Rob Vaux posted on the RPG.NET forums ...

    In this thread, he said:

Henson has only contracted us for a single book. If they want to see more books, they'll renegotiate the contract, but the decision is theirs to make. It's their property, after all, and they have the final word on whether additional RPG books will be produced.

Problem is, there's a LOT of crap int eh publishing industry, as well. The bookstores are so busy packing the shelves with the latest King/Grisham/Clancy pap that they squeeze all the other good stuff into oblivion.

    Hmmmm...

According to Ain't It Cool News.com, the sets are to be stuck on Wednesday, the 11th. That's two days from now.

Sounds like they're not giving viewer response a chance to get moving.

Write those letters today, and send them Fed Ex!

Not that it will help... this decision has more to do with cutting expenses than with gaining viewers (and Farscape is a VERY expensive show). I have heard that SciFi, USA networks, and thier parent companies are in some serious trouble. Just rumor, but still, I hear some solid one's in my line of work (I work for one of the largest investment companies in the world).
