While Mandel does try to use canon/real when he can. He's actually not much of a stickler if it can easily be changed.

ie. Andor tradionally was Epsilon Indi. But with the advent of the Andorian/Vulcan issues from Enterprise. Andor got moved to Procyon so they are much closer to Vulcan.

Incidently, has anyone had anyluck scanning the communicator article for me? Just the text would be fine. (sig@ycw.com.au)

I totally agree with First of Two.

The maps look great... better than I expected.

But I really wanted that starships book. I guess that not-so-well-thought-out starship spotter will have to do.

    the magazine

The Communicator issue is in stores. I got a copy today. It doesn't have any images other than the PsiPhi ones, but they are more legible in the magazine. The text doesn't reveal much about the book. It's mostly background.

Is there any danger of stores running out of the book before people get to it?

I will buy this one, and if there's a new one say 2 to 5 years from now, I'll buy that too. Another one could be completely rearranged, and include that comprehensive stellar catalog. I'd like it to be black and white, so it can be bigger with more information, and so I can mark on it more easily. If the routes of the Enterprises look like scribbles, maybe a simple list of all the locations the ships went to during their missions, maybe speeds and distances. A chart of the sky as seen from Earth showing where the Trek stars would be seen would be good. Would it make sense to have a sky map showing the Federation's borders with other empires? Maps of multiple planes would be good, both parallel to the galactic plane each with the stars within a certain thickness, and xz and yz planes. Is there a possibility for Trek starchart software?

Not likely. Trek isn't that popular any more. Darn it.

Well, I just looked at this thread (and the maps) about 20 minutes ago.

I've just gone to Amazon.com and pre-ordered the thing.

Not until Mid-October according to Barnes & Noble.

Amazon says it will ship 8th-9th October.

Get this, a Aussie major distributor won't have it until Christmas!!

So a quick preorder to Amazon later

ps. Before you ask I don't have complete parts of the book only snippets. So I need my nice new copy as well.

Late to the Game here . . . but . . . OH MY GOD!

This is down right ORGASMIC! As stated by someone before "(Whatever Ned Flanders says)"

Can you imagine what this'll do if this is stated as OFFICIAL and is absolute canon?

Aw c'mon, JALU, tell us what you really think of that preview!

I've got my copy on order with Books A Million and it should be here pretty soon. The other cute/neat purchase was that Starfleet Survival Guide. Interesting...

    Thumbs up

The book is in, got two copies at my local bookstore here in the middle of Minnesota, so it's got to be available just about anywhere in the USA by now... (one copy to keep, the other I took apart and them into sheet protectors for rpg use...).

one little question though -- Magna Roma gets a write-up but I just can't find it on any of the maps -- can anyone help with a page # and general description of where it is?

This book is a beauty, but I compare it to the nice maps of Romulan space from the LUG boxed set and I have to wonder, again, how this book will effect Decipher's race books -- will these maps now be considered cannon, at least as far as the rpg's concerned?

Also -- any idea where the New Frontier books would be placed on these maps?

    thanks!
