But perrryyy I am not talking politics, I am not discussing it, I simply posted the news.

Well if you won't listen to reason then that is your choice dude.

I will not lose sleep over it, you won't take me at my word then don't take me at all. Which is what you have decided to do.

My respect for you just reached an all-time low. Welcome to PPK (Perrryyy's Personal Killfile).
This of course just makes it sound like I am a constant dissappointment to you, so there ya go.

Anyone else wanna Killfile me? G'Head. I won't Killfile anyone.

Well Aslan, you're certainly not in my Killfile. I can't say that I've always agreed with you, but you brought some hope (Which is more than I can say for the ongoing 'skins game). Thank you.

Reg: Don't discount the inspectors just yet. They aren't morons. Wait and see.

Well I don't know what to say except thank you.

And while we may not see eye to eye on politics, I still love your Trek Adventures.

Boy I sure do miss those

    Sounds like a stalling tactic.

Iraq was probably quite close to a lethal weapons payload and then thought we won't have the time to deploy. How about we buy some more time

The only way I see inspections working are with inspectors backed up by US-Allied military power. ie. they choose the site they want to inspect and then just arrive with fighters overhead accompanied by helo-gunships and infantry. If any Iraqis object they get blown away. If the Iraqis refuse to allow the inspectors in the fighters bomb it...simple...you get what you want with overwhelming firepower.

Wouldn't that be a little over the top if they're coming in under a 'peaceful' UN backed inspection?

    Anywho, it's all good.
Hmm. I guess I have to work harder to get back on that list.

Who said anything about 'peaceful'. Saddam is a unmitigated thug and there's only one thing he understands, force. A show of force is the best way to start. You pussyfoot around with him and he'll screw with you like he did the last time. No, I say you go in ready for a fight and he'll give in or face the consequences of a couple of Tomahawk cruise missiles in downtown Bagdhad.

I think the marines in Aliens said it best, "Peace through superior firepower."

It isn't a total victory for the UN, but it is a step in the right direction. Get those inspectors back in there! And now start working on Iraqi compliance with the remaining UN resolutions.

    Wink

So Iraq is letting in inspectors now. Though I'll believe it when I see it and I have more fear now. I wonder what made him comply or at least start to pretend to comply. It had to be something recent. Maybe last week. But what, what could it have been? Can anyone help me?

    It's a tactic. He's stalling for time.

Saddam is a thug, but you don't stay king of the hill in that region of the world by being stupid.

Every inspector he lets in now is just one more potential "human shield."

I believe the US has a list of around 500 sites they want the inspectors to inspect.

If they do this properly, the ultimatum will be "These sites will be inspected, or they will be blown into itty-bitty bits. If you attempt to delay or hinder the inspectors in any way, the sites will ALL be blown into itty-bitty bits. As will you."

Of course, now that we think he's been making mobile weapons labs on semis, we'll have to inspect every semi as well... or blow them into itty-bitty bits.

    It begins already...

He only will allow inspectors on military bases...where they aren't storing the stuff. So much for unconditional.

And as if that's not enough...
