Retro, eh..? Does it have fins and the sparkler stickin' out its butt to make it look like a rocket?

A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Please tell me it has the fuzzy dice hanging above the main viewscreen!

How old did you envision the design? Are we talking movie era look or earlier?

    Retro

As soon as I read this, the name of the ship came to mind. Can't come up with a class name but..

    USS Christopher Pike NCC-31007

Now you just have to convince the engineer to install a four-barrel plasma manifold injector, chrome-plate the warp nacelles, and paint the hulls bright yellow with orange and red flames on the saucer section.

Yeah man, but you gotta lower the nacelles and chop the interconnecting hull. Then ya put on some ventral RCS thrusters so she can have some hop, man. The you put some fringe around the main viewscreen and some fuzzy dice. Yeah man that's one mean ride esse.

Live long and Yo quiero Taco Bell.
    I think, therefore I...<BELLLLCCCHH> oops. ^_^
