All right, this is not really aimed at the "CODA is just d20 in disguise" advocates, but rather ... I don't know, I just felt the need to get utterly silly for a minute or two.
Anyhow, I just understood something everyone seems to fail to notice:
Warning: Tongue in cheek mode on!
I just figured this out! Everybody says CODA is a bad d20 ripoff. They're wrong about the d20 part! It's a bad ripoff, because it just isn't! It is in fact an ICON ripoff! Plain and simple! Can you believe it?
I mean, how could they hope to decieve us any longer! The similarities are so numerous I can't even count them! Let's try to gather some ...
Of course, there is chapter one. Notice how similar it is to ICON's? Both describe the Star Trek universe, and CODA's has a glossary which is strikingly reminiscent of ICON's.
Then there are the templates/archetypes. CODA has some, and this just goes to show that it copied ICON in that way too!
I'll skip to chapter 7, which is so blatantly taken from ICON it's incredible. Chapter 7 in CODA decribes various advantages and flaws a character can have, things that they call "Edges and Flaws". Wait, this is exactly what advantages and disadvantages in ICON were! And to add insult to injury, they even use mostly the same names as in ICON!
And then there is the infamous chapter 2: Species. Can you believe the nerve? They use mostly the same races as in the DS9 rulebook! Bajorans, Klingons, Cardassians, and even Humans! Damn, this is just insane. They just took it and copied it and this is really a bad game because they shouldn't have done this and .... and .... and ....
/me goes on and on and on about the similarities.
All right, off you go: Tongue in cheek mode off.
P.S.: Feel free to comment, reply, expand, move or even delete this thread, it is not a very vital one anyway.
