Here's a scary thought...
I was just reading a thread between Owen and Kaladin(?) on a Battle Star Galacta crossover where a mention of replacing the Cylons with the Borg.
The thought I had was what in the Preservers (or by any other name) had been the "original" humans in the galaxy had been from someplace in the Delta Quad. fought a thousand year war with the early Borg coming to realize that "Resistance was Futile" so they evacuated as many of their populace to the far reaches of the Alpha Quad. as they could. The remaining went against the Borg so the colonists could be saved.
As far as this goes there might still have been survivors after the final battle, looking for where the New World was located...
One of my personal justifications for this is the Voth. How many other worlds have spawned two (if you count Dolphins, three) compleatly sentient interstellar cultures.
"A fleet of generational colonization ships arrive to a system with a planet that matches the fleet’s homeworld, upon landing the colonists the few remaining ship personal fly the last of the, Borg attracting, high technology in to the systems star letting the colony develop without the threat of the Borg..."
But this is just an off the wall idea...
