    Question Andorian help needed!

You are talking to the person who knows next to nothing about Andorians. I know they're blue. I know they're a bit of a warrior culture (though less moronic about it than Klingons). I know they have little wiggly antennae.

    And...well, that's about it.

Now - through my own Narrator ineptitude (shoulda seen it coming!!!!!) - I have a major character (as in: My Wife's, so no, I can't just kill off the character...unless I want a lonely life! ) who has adopted an orphaned Andorian child.

There is no way to get out of it. On an Explorer-type ship, I've established families are allowed aboard. All the backstory is in place...in short, there is no way I can get out of it.

So...what I need is something like: "A Parenting Guide for 12-year-old Andorians".

Or at least, some information (lots of information, if possible!), on Andorians!

Does anyone know of any good Internet resources out there which conform pretty much to accepted Andorian stuff? I know there's a lot out there on Andorians, but as I know so little about them, I'm hoping someone 'in the know' can point me to a reliable site.

Oh, by the way: first game of CODA went well! Only thing is, I'm still waiting on the NG, so we're thinking we'll stick with LUG until I get ahold of it. (Since there's a fair amount of ship encounters coming in the next episode, and no "CODA Spacedock" available).

Anyway, thanks in advance for any Andorian suggestions!

The Narrator's Guide has a description of the Andorians, but the definitive resource is S. John Ross' superlative Among the Clans for ICON. Copies should still be available in stores or online, possibly at bargain prices.

    Tried Ebay?

You really should get that book if at all possible. Until a CODA Andorian book comes out it is the difinitive sourcebook of Andorian history and culture.

Now, since your wife's PC adopted an Andorian child, Andorian culture might not be so important just yet.

The only serious phyiological difference is the cobalt-based blood, which would likely require nutritional supplements... and a taste for salt.

This is one of the problems that I have with the way Dec. has planned releases. The Romulans, Andorians and Vulcans will not be getting their own CODA sourcebooks, as they have been covered in ICON. This is a situation that really makes no sense to me.

I just noticed an "Among the Clans" in my game store last night. If you like I'll buy it and ship it to you at cost (cost plus shipping).

It was $22 (US, of course) plus tax... probably come to around $25-$28 all together. You could pay me with an international money order or something.

    Interested?

Sorry for the delay in answering...I've been mainly checking the boards from my laptop at work (on which I don't have a cookie for the site) - and I can never remember my password to log in, and I'm too lazy to get a new one...

Thanks for the help, guys...I'm hunting down Among the Clans 'as we speak'.

Phantom, that policy makes perfect sense. I have the LUG species books, and it's not hard to convert a few stats from ICON to CODA, so why should I buy new books? Especially since none of the history or background information is any different in either system...

Getting books on the Klingons and Cardassians and Dominion is a much higher priority for me. Aside from the netbooks, we don't have nearly as much useful game info on them as we do on the ones LUG already covered.

Since they have incorporated Ent into game canon then there will be changes, especially to the Andorians and the Vulcans. Changes I don't like, but there you are.

Besides, when I get together with my friends to play a game, we want to play, not sit around and try and shoe horn old races into new templates. Basically, I'm lazy. The reason why I buy a game and its supplements is someone else has done the paper work for me. Why else would shell $70 per book plus PST and GST for something I could make home brew...If I wanted to take the time, which I don't.
