    I really liked the old Starfleet ranks.

    Something like
    Ensign
    Lieutenant JG
    Lieutenant
    Lieutenant commander
    Commander

    These ranks are kind of... impersonal

    Hmm.... I'm not really all that new either. I just lurk... like the creature from the black lagoon, I guess.

    And it was all part of my cunning plan to be a cadet for four years to represent a true cadet, such is my dedication to Trek authenticity....

    Also, the new ones make us sound like UFP members ... it says that I ... participate... what does that mean? am I important enough to have a Sovereign assigned to my defence then?

    Hey if the purpose of the ranks name change is to make the forum less Trek-specific because of an upcoming LOTR RPG section, why not merge the two universes in the ranks names ?

    Wich would give us something like :

    Hobbit Cadet
    Human Ensign
    Dwarf Lieutenant j.g
    Elven Lieutenant
    < Whatever Gandalf is > Commander
    < Something else I have no idea about because I don't know LOTR well > Captain

    The Moderators could also get cool names like :

    Nazgul Commodore
    Balrog Admiral


    etc...
