    Veterans'/Rememberance Day

    In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.

    --John McCrae

Good poem, though as a vet I thik I prefer "Whew...I made it!"

"War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

    Happy Veteran's day

I tip my hat to all the guys (and gals) on the board who currently serve or have served to protect our nation.

...and now I shall lead us in the soldier's prayer, also known as the pilot's prayer.

"Please, God, don't let me screw up."

    Thanks, guys.

My grandfather was a veteran of the War to End All Wars.

In his honour, I still think of this as Armistice Day.

    Here's tae ye, Mac.
