What do you want in a character sheet?

What do you want in a character sheet? and I guess I'm after the details, and other little things, like a portrait box, Should "Dodge" have it's own catagory like "Initiative" does... things like that.

I'd love for a character sheet to be in Acrobat Forms or Excel so that I can type all of the info and numbers in and have the software do the basic math for me and populate the appropriate fields.

None of my players can draw, so a portrait box is so much wasted space on our sheets.

Lots of room for specializations, edges, flaws, notes, etc.

A forms portrait box would be cool, cause you could browse for images on the pc, no drawing required.

I agree with Aslan. Its great if it looks good and has a fancy LCARS layout and colors, but if you cannot find what you are looking for then what good is it.

It needs to be well layed out and easy to read.

I can do that. I've pdf-formed the official star trek sheet that attempts to make your printer cry uncle. I've added in a default of -2 on all listed defaultable skills, however the form does not do the math on the "Trained-Only" skills, It automatically figures out your base reactions, your defence, I have small check-boxes on either side of the skills, so you can denote them as professional (On the Left) or Defaultable (Due to the Frelling Trill, on the right), I have checkboxes in the Health Boxes, and have defaulted a standard 8 boxes in each, so people wouldn't have to do as much checking. I couldn't figure out how to automate that part, or I would have.

Too Bad, I've got one anyway.

Well, I've gotta say, it's the standard sheet.. so not a lot of help in the specialties area, but, 9 edge, 9 flaws, and a 1.5 note boxes might work.

That's what I've got, It's in the bottom half of the second note box.

Easily Read? Well Layed out? Bah, True Jedi care not for these things!

All right, and now that the sales pitch is over, a couple of things. Unzipped, this thing's about 5 mb, and zipped it's 1.5, The initial sheet was a monster and me adding forms and higher math didn't help.

Don's sheet is better than this one!
It prints better, It's easier to read, more room for specialties, hell more of just about everything. and if I'd been able too, I'd have just disabled some math form fields, added some Professional ability checkboxes, and added in some default -2, and a picture script, and I'd be happy, But.. no.... Someone at decipher forgot to lock-down their character sheet, and someone at trek-rpg didn't. So here we are.

So, being 1.5 mb, -I believe- is too big to attach, I'll send it to anyone that wants it...

    Yee-Haa!
