I'm afraid I was one of the causes of that -- I revived a thread about a month ago, and apparently rubbed some folks the wrong way. That's why I tried to be very careful how I raised the issue, this time.

I'm sure by now that the Decipher folks are aware of how frustrating the delays are to their customers. And I'm sure if they had something they could tell us, they would. And that was my goal -- in case there WAS information out there, that just hadn't made it to these boards yet, this thread was intended to remedy that.

Wow, that was so funny I laughed out loud! I can just see the conversation now...

Jesse: "Hey, I got news of when products are going to be out."
Doug: "Really? That's great. Should I get online and tell people?"
Jesse: "Yea, we probably should. We only have been lit up--what--like a dozen times on this topic?"
    Doug: <nods> "Sounds good..."
Jesse: "...or we could hold onto this information and NOT tell anyone..."
Doug: "Well, there is that. That could be fun..."
Jesse: "Okay, new plan: we hold onto the information until someone ASKS!"
    Doug: "Yea! Let's do that!"

LOL! I don't know why, but I love the phrase "lit up" used in this context.

Okay, that's twice I've gotten smacked down for raising what I thought was a concern shared by a lot of folks on this board -- so I won't raise the issue again. Evidently it's a raw nerve.

Speaking for myself, I'm getting tired of the wait and wonder game. I like CODA a lot, but it isn't the only good system in town. I hope other customers are there for Decipher when it finaally publishes, because honestly, I doubt I will be.

    I share the concern, dude.

    Very deeply.

    Unhappy

I was very tempted there for a second to put in some rather flame inducing (possibly banning too) comments about the apparent [CENSORED BY POSTER ] of some people, but as I like reading interesting posts and gleaning rpg resources/hints, etc I shall keep them to myself!

Some people from the mIRC channel knows some of my opinions about this subject.

I don't think the problem is that Decipher, or at least, OUR guys from decipher, Jesse and Doug and such, are is withholding information. I can believe many things, but not that.

I'm pretty convinced that they don't HAVE the information.

I am not quite convinced, however, that said information does not exist AT ALL.

We're not talking about abstract or supernatural objects here, like beauty or God, about which hard information cannot be gathered. We're talking about things which exist in the concrete, physical world, which can be counted and numbered and put in some semblance of order. No doubt, someone, SOMEWHERE, has done this. It may not be in their noggin, it may be on paper or disc or CD or even tape, but it's there. Printing schedules, error reports, memos, things that business cannot survive without.

Information - Isaac Newton excepted - does not fall out of the sky onto one's head. Information must be gathered before it can be relayed.

This seems to be where the process breaks down.
Someone is not relaying the proper information to our men.

Nicely put First of Two. I share the opinion.

No, it's damn funny. Geesh, lighten up.

Also, I'm neither a Decipher employee (Jesse) or a representative (Doug), so if you have issues with my comments or position, take them up with me. Don't hold them against Decipher.

BTW, my post was far from "a smack." You need to get a thicker skin, my friend.

We're all tired about the wait, you're not exclusive or special. Feel free to sit there and be all "doom and gloom." I, for one, try to at least find something to lighten the mood on what is otherwise a depressing topic and state of affairs.

I wrote some of these books, you know.

    By all means, share away.

Two "thumbs up" to First of Two for his level-headed comments. A beacon of reason is always nice to see.

    Wink

Hey, it's easy for you to be patient, Don - you don't need these books for your ST games, since you wrote them !
For instance, you already know the extended Starship rules and don't have to WAIT FOR THEM ARRRRRHGGHGHGHGH!!!!!

I've been called a "Beacon of reason." Mark your calendars.

Now, all I posted above doesn't change the fact that I'd like to deliver severe smitings to the printers until they pass on the information, since I personally suspect that it is THEY who are not sharing.

[OT to 1o2]: Nope, she's a science-fiction writer (Queen City Jazz, Mississippi Blues) who delved very deeply into the questions of information sharing and nanotech...

I'm not frustrated. I've just gotten to the point where I don't care. And IMHO that's a worse thing for a consumer to be then frustrated.

Yes, I do want the screen. Yeah I'll probably buy it when it comes out. I'm not holding my breath anymore. To me Decipher has shown the same lack of concern for it's ST gamers that Hero had under Peterson. No to Vauge answers, parts of the company that seem more important then "some rpg," etc. And yes, other parts do seem more imortant, mainly the ccg and LotR rpg.

C'mon, Two Towers isn't the ONLY sequal coming out this month.

Well I appreciate the frustration, but I have everything I need to run a game.

A player's Book for makking Characters and a Narrator's Book for making Adventures and stuff.

Oh yeah I also have these boards and an entire internet of resources.

The other books will be great to have, but I don't NEED them.

That said I do WANT them

Re: First_of_Two as a beacon... well looks like Satan and I have a hockey game to get too
