    Best '90s sci-fi show

This one oughta be good... Babylon 5, for me...
"War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Though I love Deep Space Nine, had to give it to Babylon 5 by a nose. It was my wife (then-girlfriend) who got me into Babylon 5 - when I originally heard the premise, all I could think of was "Deep Space Nine ripoff".

I loved how the characters and setting changed. And it was not impossible to get into midstream - I started watching it regulary with "Severed Dreams" in Season 3. Mind you, I wished I had caught them the first time through, but I was able to follow the story just fine.

    No arguements here...

While B-5 had great story arcs, I didn't like too many individual episodes -- in many ways I wanted the series in book form or as a couple of movies rather than as a weekly series.

DS9, however, was a fave-rave show, not just as sci-fi, but as tv in general. Depth of characterization, interesting plotting, fun/terrifying recurring characters, and dealing with some very serious real-world issues carefully costumed just to look like they were sci-fi, like the material of off The Twilight Zone.

And I give points to Sisko, especially when he went bald-n-goatee!

Hey, you forgot "Mercy Point Station". Y'know, that really incredible attempt to mix Deep Space Nine and ER to create the drama of an emergency room in space.

On the first episode, the entire human population of the station caught a computer virus. Yeah, a computer virus. The only thing that saved their brains from being rebooted was a transfusion by a replicant infected with the virus.

I'm not making this up, folks. This was broadcast sci-fi at it's prime! I think it lasted all of three episodes ...

The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, by a country mile.

    B5 a close second.
He's an underprivileged skateboarding cowboy with nothing left to lose. She's a sharp-shooting goth bounty hunter who believes she is the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian queen. They fight crime!

Jules Verne was a "00's" show...

Speaking of which, where is that poll?

Actually Jules Verne aired as early as 1999 in some markets.

Was shot here in ontreal, the msot expensive TV series ever shot in Montreal.

Hey, if Hercules is on the list, why not Highlander (ok... it's not an american series) ?

Not that it'd have made any difference to me since I voted DS9 anyway

I think Highlander was a Canadian/French coproduction. Thus half the episodes happening in Paris and the others in Seattle (but filmed in Vancouver IIRC), or Toronto in the spin-off.
