Question for people that have answers

I wanted to go ahead and re-post this here, in case any of y'all had an idea.

All right, One... Two... Three Questions.. (HA-Ha-Ha!)

    A) NG p.80, Table 6.9: Social Test Modifiers, "Subject Speaks a different Native Language, -5 to -15," Is this supposed to be general modifier (i.e. Human and Klingon Captains Verbally Jousting), only applied to unknown languages (i.e. a darmok-like "Doug, at the keyboard, his fingers bleeding") and/ or, is the UT supposed to allieviate said penalty?

    2) PG p.70, Engineer Professional Abilities: "Engineering Expertise"
Says: "Designate one engineering skill and skill specialty"
Ok, can do Engineering:Propulsion (Warp Drive)
"When making tests involving either the skill, or the specialty..."
Uh... Wouldn't (Warp Drive) always be under Propulsion Engineering? or was I supposed to do "Engineering: Propulsion, and Engineering: Systems (Flight Control)?"
Or is there a typo in there and you're gonna tell me what it really meant?

    D) All right, Same page as question 2, and here's the stupid question.
Professional Ability "Engineering Certification" If I have an Engineer, who begins play with skill ranks in all three Engineering skills, thereby, as I read it, making this particular ability moot, is it still a valid requirement for "Miracle Worker?"

All right that's all I've got... Tune in next week when I ask Doug what would the stats be for an assimilated Jem'Hadar/Ocampa Hybrid, and how much damage it would do when in an EVA suit and ramming DS9, (When it's shields were down of course, otherwise it would be silly.)
If you give a monkey control over it's environment, it will fill the world with bananas, and whereas that is a great accomplishment, it's still a very stupid thing to do. --Doctor Who #2

So this doesn't only come up in my group then? I'm relieved.
No power in the 'verse can stop me.

Hedging your bets by posting in both locations, Moriarti?

Here's the response I posted to the Decipher boards:

This message actually made me literally laugh out loud twice. Good job!

As a Narrator, I would apply the lower end modifiers for obscure slang and the hgihe rmodifiers for situations where the UT will not or cannot work.

BTW, Extra Points for coming up with my favorite Darmok-ism.

Actually, I believe it is more of a redundancy. When making Engineering, Propulsion (Warp) tests (to go with your example), you get the bonus.

Don't forget that Engineering Certificat8ion gives a free specialty for each Engineering skill taken after it (and since the technical order of things puts the Profession before the Professional Development Package, you stand a good chance of getting a free specialty for all three skills).

And either way, yes, Miracle Worker would still require Engineering Certification.

    Silly indeed!
