May the crew rest in peace, and my prayers turn to their families.
For the second time in my life this morning I was asked "what Happen?" and had to answer "The Space Shuttle blew up".
I can't think of anything adequate to say.

I am saddened once again by a disaster in space.
I woke up at 8 to call my job and my wife felt our windows shake...
I', listening to the news reports and two of the astonauts were Texans. Since there will be no remains found, it seems to me that the soil of Texas has been hallowed once again by the blood of Her native sons.

This really says something about the Shuttle program effectivity rate. If they're spending money on these things, they'd better do it with responsibility; either do it very well, or spend the money on more important stuff. For the second time in my life this morning I was asked "what Happen?" and had to answer "The Space Shuttle blew up".
Quite a blow for the Shuttle program. Close to KO now.

Today our collective dream turned into a nightmare. My heart goes out to the family a freinds of the brave crew. As we mourn the lost of the valiant let us not think of the dark cloud that now surround the journey but think of the great future that lies ahead. Let us not end the dream.

If we weren't spending so much money on crap like the Osprey and the Ground Based Common Sensor, on the lazy and indigent, or loosing billions of bucks from our leaking federal government we might have been able to replace these old ladies BEFORE this stuff happens. We put up our best and brightest on these things, for frig's sake...
A bunch of us were just talking about how we were due for a new shuttle disaster around Christmas...
"War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
John Stuart Mill
