Question State of the Delta Quadrant

I've been making notes for a new series for several months, picking up little bits here and there, and putting it all together into a single, cohesive body.

The basic premise of the new series is the loss of a B'rel-class ship (or possibly a Galor-class if Cardassians, or a D'deridex-class if Romulans) in the Delta Quadrant, roughly in the same region that Voyager was transported (in the game) a decade earlier via a graviton elipse.

Most of the engineering crew is killed in the relocation, and the ship, while still essentially spaceworthy, has lost warp propulsion and the ability to cloak itself (if Klingon or Romulan), much of it's weapon systems and shields, and so forth. Battered and barely able to travel at low impulse, the bird-of-prey (or whatever) is smack dab in the middle of Kazon space (which, as you may recall, is pretty darn big).

Possessing a massive database of information acquired from Starfleet, the Klingons (or Romulans, or Cardassians) are fully aware of the races that Janeway and crew encountered along their journey. Using this information (including star charts, star systems data, etc.), the crew of the I.K.C. G'mort (or whatever) must repair their ship, avoid capture and/or destruction, and somehow manage to find the way back to Qo'nos (or Romulus, or Cardassia Prime).

So what I want to know is this: what do you suppose is the present state of the Delta Quadrant (particularly in the region of Talax, the Ocampa homeworld, and the Kazon-held systems)?

Further, how do you suppose a group of 30-40 Klingons (or Romulans, or Cardassians) would behave in the region, far from their space, faced with the likelihood of never returning to their beloved homeworld?

Knowing my players, I'm assuming that they'll probably try to form alliances with and/or conquer one or more of the Kazon sects. Additionally, knowing what they do about the Ocampa homeworld, I imagine that they might just as likely journey there and take over the subterannean habitat, likely attempting to install some sort of power system to keep things running.

The idea is to have a non-Federation group arrive in the Delta Quadrant. The idea is to see how having no Prime Directive changes things when stranded far from home.

    I imagine the following:

    * The Kazon sects are still fighting amongst themselves, continuing their pursuit and persecution of the Trabe, and generally making life miserable for strangers.

    * Maje Jal Culluh was killed in single combat and replaced by his second-in-command, Jal Serat. Seska and Culluh's child was sent to a Kazon-Nistrim-controlled planet and forced into a life of servitude as he is the son of the man that almost destroyed the Nistrim.

    * The Ocampa have since lost power to their settlement and, with the help of several Talaxian freighters, relocated to the fourth moon of Talax, Kaelax (KEE-lax), a verdant rainforest-covered sphere. Under the protection of the Talaxians (since freed from Haakonian subjugation), the Ocampa thrive in their new pre-industrial surroundings. Kaelax is deemed a cultural preserve and is protected by patrolling Talaxian space navy ships and a network of defense satellites.

    * The Ocampa homeworld itself, still an arid desert, has been abandoned by the Kazon-Ogla since shortly after Voyager left the area. The underground settlement, still inaccessible to outsiders, proved too challenging for the Kazon to infiltrate and has lain dormant for nearly three years. The force fields, while still active, are quickly fading as the remaining emergency power runs out.

    * The Vidiian Sodality, since receiving a cure for the Phage from an itinerant group unofficially known as the "think tank," has ceased the harvesting of organs from other races. They have settled several new planets, forming colonies. Dr. Denara Pel, in particular, has been a powerful voice for the reformation of Vidiian society in recent years and has gained quite a great deal of influence.

I can't think of much more off hand, but I think that that's agood start. If anyone has some other ideas/additions/suggestions, please post them.

    Thumbs up

    Ooh, nice!

Imagine the Vidiians turning into the medical saviors of the Delta Quadrant! Maybe Cardassians would be best for this, having to deal with Seska's scheming and being generally embarrased at being raped & robbed by the Dominion...

Sound good, But in my opinion I don't think things would go well for any of the other major governments. The Klingons, would most likely die well before reaching the edge of Kazon space, for all their abilities, they would get themselves killed because of their "Blood Lust". The Romulans, they might make it back, eventually, they have an ability to see the big pitcher and their "Code of D’era", not to mention their longer life span. The Cardassians, Lacking the resilience of the Klingons, and the subtlety of the Romulans wouldn't make the trip, they would be better off trying to conquer some small local govenrment. Both the Klingons and the Cardassians have a problem with taking on more than they can handle, there by getting themselves into more trouble than needed, all three have a problem with compromising, which would also get them into more trouble then it is worth. All in all, even with advanced knowledge from Voyager's trip it would be doubtful any would survive the trip home.

But this is just my opinion, yours may very.
