    Post Mirror, Mirror

I've just finished GMing a game where the characters ended up in the mirror universe.
It all started when they were posted to DS9 while waiting for their own ship, the USS Aurora, to pick them up. They were sent to investigate a Bajoran scientist on the station who was conducting experiments which were draining the stations power to an alarming degree.
They meet the scientist who explained he was working on a device to view places remotly which he called an "Optical".
In an attempt to stop the characters from shutting him down he showed them how it worked. The Optical at first showed a fuzzy image of themselves in the room. However as it became clearer they saw 'they' were actually wearing leather uniforms in the picture.
There was an explosion and when they came to they were in the leather uniforms and sporting scars and wounds they didn't have before.
Dragged before the Intendant the scientist was shot and they were told they had twenty four hours to repair the Optical or they'd share his fate.
The engineer and scientist worked hard to reassemble the device while the commanding officer located their doubles personal records. The counsellor explored the altered station telepathically informing the slaves that she would get help. The whole time the Intendant kept calling each one of them into personal meetings, flirting with them like crazy and trying to get them to betray the others.
Eventually they got the device to work and tuned it in to their DS9. To their horror their doubles had been sabotaging the station and seducing the staff. In order to transfer their minds back to their bodies they'd have to have the Optical in the same spatial location as their doubles. This would be a problem as their doubles had just stolen a shuttle and were heading for the wormhole.
The Intendant turned up with guards but the female councellor caused a distraction by kissing the Intendant allowing the others to stun her and the guards.
With the support they had gained in the slaves they made it to a shuttle with the Optical.
As they prepared to transfer back the councellor worried about the fate of their doubles but the commanding officer pointed out that the personal records showed their doubles as evil, traitrous scum who worked for the Alliance stamping out slave uprisings.
None the less the Engineer rigged the shuttle to beam their doubles to Bajor before exploding so the Intendant would think them dead.
The transfer was made and they briefly got to meet their doubles in a white void. When it was explained they would be safe as they'd be beam to Bajor the commanding officers double wailed " but thats one of the main Alliance planets! We won't last two seconds."
    Commanding officer: " Whoops"
Arriving back on DS9 they reported to Sisko who congratulated the characters and hoped he would never end up in the Mirror universe (this was set before he did).
Unfortunatly he turned down the councellors request to find a way to help the slaves as this would breach the Prime Directive.

Has anyone else run a game in the Mirror, Mirror universe?

I've run an episode in the Mirror Universe before. It really through the players and characters for a loop.

I didn't just send the charcters through though, I sent the ship they were posted on, too. Which, when it comes to trying to lay low and keep out of trouble, trying to hide a 580 meter Explorer from the Cardassian/Klingon Alliance was real fun. Not to mention a rescue from Terok Nor to make it more interesting.

I'd like to go into more detail, but I'm hort on time. Sorry. But I'd be happy to tell anyone curious more through e-mail.

I am planning on running a Mirror Universe adventure next time, and I raelly like the one you just presented. It has made me rethink the one I was going to run (using the original Mirro Mirror universe, as I disliked the DS9 episodes intensly) But that said I really like what you have here and I like the way your players handled it too

Much to think about it...much to think about

With the hopeful return of my players to gaming, I've begun outlining a major campaign which will see them through not just one, but SEVEN different alternate universes, including some of the ones seen in the "AOY" sourcebook, plus three of my own invention, "Kahless-less," where Kahless never manages to unify the Klingons, who eventually destroyed themselves with inter-house wars, and the Federation stands almost alone against a Dominion/Cardassian/Romulan alliance, "Balkan Universe," where the early attempts to create the Federation failed, leading to a number of smaller, weaker alliances, and "The Best of All Worlds?," a seemingly 'Better than our Universe' Utopian Interstellar Union with a dark secret.

When/If I finish it, and if it plays well, I may even turn it into a module to post somewhere like here...

I've got the general universes and their structures pretty much down, and a technological hook to start things rolling, now I need a way to keep my crew in each universe for some duration, (perhaps a critical component damaged or destroyed each time they jump to another universe) to get them involved in each scenario, and give them something to do which will contribute to the eventual discovery of a way back home.

    I'm a GREAT idea man... it's the follow-through that's HARD!
