    Selim connects to the sensors in sickbay and try to scan for these lifeforms. He'll concentrate on wich category they may belong to - carbon, silicon, protoplasm or energy based, humanoid or not, cold or hot blooded, etc.
    Of course, if some medical emergency occurs, he'll leave the scanning at once for concentrating on his medical duties.

    Despite success on your roll, there seems to be no record of these species in any of the station's databases. However, the computer records the file into the database for further reference.

    Detecting cloaked ships:
    Systems operation Rank 7 + (2d6=7) = 14, result hidden*

    There doesn't seem to be any sign of cloaked vessels in the area. You think something might have passed through the sensor grid for a split-second, but it may be a glitch. If the vessels were cloaked, they may have left the area.

    OK, Re-play the sensor logs at that time period to pinpoint the anomoly and attempt to analyze it.

    Sensor data from the initial scan reveals that the intruders are warm-blooded, humanoid lifeforms, carbon-based, like most species encountered in the galaxy. Further data will require a tricorder scan at closer range...

    As for Solek's work with the sensors:

    You replay the sensor data as per request.

    Sensors 7 + (2d6=6) = 14, success.

    The anomaly replays on the screen. The anomaly was definitely a tachyon emission, most likely from a cloaked vessel.

    Gir continues to stand by in engineering, monitoring his systems engineering console as one hand checks to ensure his sidearm is still at his hip. The Cardassian decides to attempt to bring up internal sensor imagery around engineering.

    OOC: Sys Ops check.

    Solek alerts the CO to this fact while continuing to scan for the vessel.

    OOC: If I remember correctly, Cloaking fields also react to anti-proton radiation.....

    IC perform a broadband scan of the area, Anti-proton, Tetryon, Alpha, beta, gamma, delta radiation, chronotons, Ect....

    Systems Operation 4 + (2d6 = 8) = 12, success.

    You realize in alarm that the intruders are almost right outside the engineering section of the station, and making their way towards main engineering. The rest of the engineering personnel, on realizing this, grab sidearms as well and prepare for conflict.

    Suddenly there is a noise at the door, which has been reinforced and sealed as per standard Starfleet procedure in an intruder alert situation. You hear a loud banging against the door, hurried and frustrated voices outside the door, and then silence.

    The computer suddenly pipes up, "Warning: Security encryption codes compromised. Warning: secuirty encryption codes-" it continues to repeat its message. The intruders are attempting to open the doors to engineering.

    Karg's request...

    Systems: Sensors 7 + (2d6 = 8) = 14, success.

    There appears to be a large concentration of antiprotons, another sign of cloaked vessels, at three separate points surrounding the station... they could possibly be the locations of cloaked vessels.

    OOC: Does Gir see what the intruders look like? Can he determine what they are?

    Gir curses under his breath and locks out his station. "Lock out your consoles and take defensive positions!" he orders to the rest of the engineering crew, then taps his communicator. "Laran to Ops. We have intruders outside main engineering; they have compromised our security encryption codes and are attempting to gain entrance. I need help down here, quick!"

    Gir moves behind the cover of his console, and positions himself for a clear shot to the door...

    << Habitat Ring >>

    Taj answered the call from Ops for security near Engineering. She directed the team to follow her and they headed for Engineering...

    << Engineering >>

    The door suddenly opened- the intruders have successfully broken the encyption codes. The engineering personnel peer through the darkened corridor for sign of the intruders, and several humanoid figures step through the corridor into engineering, weapons drawn. They're still too obscured to get a good look... but they have begun firing their energy weapons.

    I've decided to run this combat by groups rather than having each individual character roll for initiative... so the order of action is:

    Gir = 15
    Aliens = 11
    Engineers = 8

    Gir, step up to the plate. Your combat actions are?

    "Intruder alert; main engineering," the Cardassian announces as he applies a quick tap to his communicator before taking aim and firing at the nearest invader.

    OOC: Energy Weapons +3. All skill, no talent.

    Just a note that we WILL have a new player soon, Chris Landmark. He's already got a character concept in mind and will be sending me stats soon. His character will be the second officer, so it's likely that he will make his first appearance in Ops- it will be assumed that his character "tagged along" when everyone moved from the Promenade to Ops.

    So once again, welcome to him.

    OOC: Apologies to all, especially Evan, for my delay in introducing my character, Lt. Cmdr. Meredith Davies. Between running the showcase LARP at a convention two weeks ago, the increased workload which accompanies a promotion and a bout of severe pain-induced insomnia, I have had little time to actually finish my character. I should be joining the fray shortly, as things have quieted down for the moment.
