::sigh:: Another piece of my childhood gone away. Most of what I know about being a decent human being, I learned from that man. He was a kind and gentle soul in an age when such things are rare and scorned; we shall not see his like again, I fear.

Man, I'm going to miss him.

Rest in peace, sir, and know you made a difference.

When I was a kid I like the man; as a teen I was merciless in my jokes towards him.

As a middle aged man, I understand just how cruel I was towards this utterly sincere, utterly kind, and utterly caring man.

Pax, Mr. Rogers. You'll always be our neighbor.

If we are measured by the caring, kindness, goodness and gentleness which we show to others, Fred Rogers was ten miles tall.

He told us we were all special, and in doing so, made it true.

When I was a kid, one of the few things my mother and I would do together was watch Mr. Rogers on television. Heck, she still watches when she gets the chance (reruns, of course), and I remember that she even once knitted him a sweater and sent it to him.

I'm not too proud to admit that, when I found out about him passing on today, I shed a tear or two...

All I can say is that, wherever Mr. Rogers is now, any neighbor that he has should be proud...I know I would be.

And of course that neighbor has to be a man named Jim Henson the the thought that those two men are now together entertaining the smallest angles kind'a makes me feel real good.

he will always be my neighbor in soul.

    Unhappy Rest in Peace

Did you ever notice that his show never tried to sell kids anything? This was a man who had genuine concern for children everywhere. I regret your passing, Mr. Rogers, but I take comfort in the fact that you are with God now.

Goodbye, Mr. Rogers. The neighborhood will not be the same without you.
