    Help With "Enterprise"-era Series, Please

I'm thinking seriously about getting into Decipher's Star Trek rpg, but it's a steep investment financially, so I don't want to go in "blind".

My tastes would be toward running adventures set during the time of the "Enterprise" series. I notice that T'Pol is featured on the cover of the Starship Operations Manual -- but is there any basic information in that book (or the others) which would help me in running my "Enterprise"-era adventures? I'm not expecting exhaustive resources, just ship stats for the NX class and (hopefully) some of the basic equipment stats (phase pistols, for example.

I've seen various reviews of the 3 core books, but I have yet to see a Table of Contents listing for any of them, so I really don't know what's available to me as a game master.

Thanks for your attention and input,

    Impressed with CODA

I'll be honest... I wasn't thrilled about buying yet ANOTHER Star Trek RPG system. I've own FASA and ICON. I almost broke down and bought GURPS Prime Directive. But I did break down and buy CODA. Why? Because ICON converted fairly nicely to it. I have a few complaints about the player's handbook layout... Its not the best for making characters, but it works.

However, to your question. The one thing that impressed me most about the CODA system was how they managed to intergrate all the different versions of Star Trek into one volume. Uhura is just a specialized Ops officer. TOS security officers are just the security Elite profession with the security guard professional advancement. Basically, what I'm saying is...

CODA will work perfectly fine for an Enterprise era campaign. Although there isn't a LOT of material out for that era because of how new the show is. Heck, the CODA system actually works nicely for any universe... minus Star Wars (CODA hasn't done the expanded psionics one needs to represent for the Force).

My advice: buy CODA... its worth it.

If I may chime in ...

Oh well, I'll add my 0.02€ anyway .

You should consider waiting for the Special Edition to come out. It is said to contain a booklet that focuses on the new show (Enterprise, that is). Ships, professions, aliens of note I guess, and probably Archer, T'Pol and Trip's stats ... maybe Don or Doug can give you more details.

Calcoran's got it.Special edition will have a 35(?) page ENT sourcebook and starships will have NX-01 stats.SOM has the Daedalus if you want to advance your timeline a little. The skills and traits in that book will also be useful for that era.As it stands right now, you're looking at a lot of design work for an NX-01 game.Starcharts would be a valuable reference book.

However CODA is a clean and very playable system.Decipher is on track with its release schedule and the SE should only be a few months away.
