Question [ICON] Six on one hand. Half-dozen on the other.

Could you all assist me with Species Templates for the list below? I would appreciate if you could tell me what LUG Book they might have been in or where I might find a template on-line. If anyone has a template your group uses please post it. Or if they are a species your interested in maybe we could draw something up. Thanks for the assist.

    1. Arcturian [STTMP] Federation race seen at Starfleet HQ and on NCC-1701.
    2. Bothan [VGR - Persistance of Vision] Delta quadrant race.
    3. Brunali [VGR] Delta quadrant race (Icheb was Brunali before assimilation).
    4. Bzzit Khaht [STIV:TVH] FASA name for Federation race seen in Council Chamber.
    5. Caatati [VGR - Day of Honour] Delta quadrant race.
    6. Haakonian [VGR - Jetrel] Delta quadrant race, fought a war with Talaxians.
    7. Kazarite [STTMP] Federation race seen at Starfleet HQ
    8. Kolaati [VGR - Fair Trade] Delta quadrant race
    9. Napean [TNG - Eye of the Beholder] Federation race.
    10. Wadi [DS9 - Move Along Home] Gamma quadrant race, devoted gamblers. Not members of Dominion.
    11. Xelatian [STIV:TVH] FASA name for Federation race seen in Council Chamber.
    12. Zaranite [STTMP, STIV:TVH] Federation race seen at Starfleet HQ and in Council Chamber

Of the above races, the only one to have an officialy published ICON Template is the Napean race, featured in the TNG Players' Guide. The STTMP races were not mentioned by name, but the names come from the costume department's notes. The STIV:TVH races were apparently named by FASA for their Star Trek IV Sourcebook There is no evidence that these name are official. I am currently working on Templates for the STIV:TVH races, which will be posted on my page - eventually.

I think there is a Wadi template in the back section of the DS9 Corebook. It's way in the back with all the other races. It is not in the front by the Ferengi and Cardassian Templates, but by the Letheans (Spelling?) and stuff.

Sweet! I can't wait! Will you be using the FASA names to identify them or using something else, since none are official?

Now I just have to wait for my copy of the DS9 Corebook to arrive! (Should be any day now. Man I love e-Bay!)

So removing the above species that leaves:

    1. Arcturian [ST:TMP] (Was this also the character in ST:SfS offering to take Bones to Genisis?)
    2. Bothan [VGR - Persistance of Vision]
    3. Brunali [VGR] (Icheb)
    4. Caatati [VGR - Day of Honour]
    5. Haakonian [VGR - Jetrel]
    6. Kazarite [STTMP]
    7. Kolaati [VGR - Fair Trade]

    Anyone got any ideas?

Yeah, I figure I'll keep the FASA names, since it keeps continuity with my old FASA Star Trek: Excalibur campaign.

The smuggler in STIII wasn't Arcturan - he was just an ugly feather-haired alien with a piercing fetish. The Arcturans were the guys who looked like they'd begun to melt. According to the costume department notes in The making of Star Trek, the Motion Picture, they were a race of clones, and a sizeable number of them were Federation ground troops.

Eventually, I intend to do Templates for most, if not all, Federation races, but for the Delta quadrant races I'm afraid you're on your own. Evan van Eyck did a Voyager sourcebook for ICON, which may have some of them.

Well, I've been working on converting the ST:IV races from the FASA sourcebook, and Pheeeew! I'd forgotten just how bad some of them were! I don't know what the FASA boys were smoking when they wrote the treatments, but some are just unuseable. In some, the stats don't match the description - a race which has a Psi stat which blows most Vulcans out of the water, but which doesn't practice psionics is fairly typical. For some reason, most of them are amphibious, and several are supposedly not even Federation members, although they were seen sitting on the Federation Council! I'm afraid I'm going to either not do several of them or ditch the FASA concepts completely and work from scratch...

I would love to help you out however I do not have any of the FASA stuff (I purchased two FASA books last year out of curiosity but neither explains what the species stats mean) so I haven't a clue as to what I could do.

It seems rather odd that some would not be listed as members but have seats on the Council. . .but then there are a few delegates in the U.S Congress that have seats but do not vote as they are not members of the Union. And I dont remember even one example of a movie era species in the council that I would even consider being amphibious! (I have often heard it said that the worst part of FASA was the species write ups.)
