    Exclamation SFA series

I own the Starfleet Academy boxed set, and I am interested in running a short three-episode Academey series to introduce a new player to the Icon System. Unfortunately, I lost the book that had narrating advice and episodes for SFA series. Does anyone have any narrating advice and/or adventure ideas regarding running an Academy series?

    Over rock and under tree.
And I must follow if I can.
    Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Starfleet Academy is bascially a "military school"/college. So bascially any SFA stories should largely be about college kids.

I suggest reading "The Best and the Brightest" a Star Trek novel which covers the experiences of a group a cadets through their four years of the Academy.

Adventures can range from just turning in a workable science project in time to to a hostage crisis during summer vacation or a survival exercise goes wrong when pirates land on the planet forcing the cadets to try to beat the pirates and get off planet.

One old chestnut would of course be a spy inserted as a cadet by the Obsidian Order of the Tal'Shiar...maybe even a PC...you get the idea.

A long term story idea may be attempts by politicians to close down the Academy for whatever reason. Maybe the attempted coup during DS9's 4th season has changed some members of the Federation Council's attitude to Starfleet.

Adventures during training exercises off-world or onboard training vessels should be common culminating in perhaps the most famous exercise "the Kobayashi Maru" but great care will have to be taken to ensure that PCs don't use OOC information to beat the exercise (ie. the Kirk solution from STII).

Great care will have to be taken to limit the challenge and threats as the characters will be less skilled than a full trained Starfleet officer.
