“The Battle for Trill” is a 3-5 month “blitz” campaign set in the later years of the Dominion War. (2373-75) (Deep Space 9 Seasons 6 & 7) The general premise of this RPG is that the Dominion is aiming to attack the planet Trill, your task will be to stop them. I can not divulge many more details than that other than to say that your character should be built to fight in both starship and personnel combat. Building a character who is a pacifist is NOT a good idea. This is war, dress accordingly.
I am calling this a blitz campaign because I intend for it to move relatively quickly. I would like to see everyone checking the boards at least once every other day during the summer months (May – September or whenever we finish) and posting as necessary. If this is going to be a problem for you, please talk to me. I can and will be flexible and we can work something out.
This campaign will have different organization from a 'standard' starship and its crew campaign in the following ways:
1) Your team will NOT be a dedicated starship crew. You will be a Special Forces team commanded by an NPC. This NPC will give you general commands such as “Secure this building, destroy that weapons platform” and the overall execution will be up to you. There will be a designated team leader that will change from objective to objective, but for the most part there will not be any seniority in the sense of Lieutenant vs. Captain Seniority. You’ll be in a team and will be expected to work as such.
2) This will NOT be in an episodic format. This will be one on going story.
3) Logistics for online play will be dealt with. At this moment I don't have a website up yet, but I WILL have a website and this will most likley be played on a message board.
Also, if you are interested in playing but still don’t know if your summer schedule will allow it, then please build a character anyways. Send him/her to me with a note saying that you’re still waiting on your schedule. Then when you have said schedule, let me know one way or another.
All right, all that said here are the basic guidelines of this RPG:
1) The year is 2374 and your characters will be in the middle of it all.
2) The most survivable characters will be those who can and will fight. I’m just warning you now, if you take Pacifist 3, the odds that your character will survive this campaign are slim to none. This is war. Pacifists don’t belong on the front lines
3) Your characters species are restricted to Klingon, Romulan, and Federation member species. NO DELTA QUADRANT SPECIES and NO CARDASSIANS!
4) Keep in mind that although you are a Special Forces unit, the team does need balance. The team will NOT function well if all we have are heavy weapons characters built to kill kill and only kill. I do need front line ‘warriors’, but I will also need field medics, weapons specialists and the like. Your success in this RPG will be dependent on not only your ability to fight, but your ability to investigate, think, and survive.
5) All characters will start with 5 advancements (25 advancement picks)
