BACKGROUND:
In 2368, Blue Star Construction began design on a fast courier intended for use in the private sector.Just as the prototype was nearing completion Blue Star made the unprecedented decision to initiate spaceframe construction on 6 more Sprinters before the basic design was even tested.The prototype had numerous problems with it's propulsion systems during warp trials but work on the other 6 Sprinters proceeded anyway.Finally the prtotype was destroyed by an antimatter imbalance and the other ships, though allready outfitted with basic systems were scuttled.
In reality the other 6 ships were aqquired by the Orion Syndicate, taken to a secret shipyard and outfitted with mono-refracting plating and Klingon weaponry that not coincedentally fit perfectly into spaces intended for cargo stowage.The scheme worked.
MISSION:
The production of these pirate corvettes is th e culmination of years of planning on the part of the Orion Syndicate.With the use of these ships (and a few others) the Syndicate has begun to disrupt shipping in the Beta Quadrant.Their master plan has yet to be revealed.
These ships are not heavyweights as far as line ships go,and are intended to operate in groups , warping out if heavy opposition is met.They are quite capable of overcoming most cargo ships.The stealth plating also makes them ideal for inserting Syndicate operatives in key locations.
