    Away Teams and Landing Parties

We may eventually do an Away Teams and Landing Parties sourcebook
I usually avoid Marines threads so I missed this earlier. Just to throw my slips of latinum to Jesse/Decipher, I like the idea away teams and landing parties being included in a larger exploration book, something a lot of us had been looking forward to from LUG

Some things included in an exploration book might be:

    1) More detailed rules/info on what sensors can discern, both at long range and short.
    2) Does Starfleet usually send a single ship off into the hinterlands? or do they send a group of ships to an area, both for better coverage and flexibility? How about other fleets or UFP civlians?
    3) Ships and gear, perhaps including options for the swappable pods on Nebulas and runabouts.
    4) More stuff on stellar/astronomical phenomena (the NG was good, but more is better )
    5) More planetary development material (repeat NG comment above)

Anybody else want to add to the list?

    Thanks for listening.

Maybe have a Romulan away team section, Klingon, Cardassian, and so on.

I'd like to read more about the role of science and medical personnel on away teams and during exploration, along with player notes on how to maximize your gaming time and how to get yourself involved with plots that you might not otherwise be involved with.

I'd also like to see a player aid on how to assess a given plot and how to go about choosing the right personnel for an Away team.

Stuff on procedures would be cool too --How to Conduct an Away Team or the like.

I want to second Ineti on this one -- to play up the military aspect is easy and obvious. That is what takes place in most rpgs. If, instead, you play up the sciences and medical parts of away teams you will get into the Trek feel, where combat is not necessarily the answer to every problem.

I would really like to see more material on this aspect of the game!

Would anyone be interested in undertaking a fan-made Away team sourcebook? I am definitely interested in it, especially to help write it.

Matt, I'd love to have a hand in it too, but I've got a ton of stuff on my plate right now. I'd find some way to add something, though.

How about the Argo! this would be the perfect opportunity to inlcude a detailed write up on vehicles. We saw the skill in the SOM. A sourcebook about landing parties and away teams would give Decipher a chance to do what LUG failed to do. We all know vehicles exsist in Star Trek and have seen many examples of their use from "A Peace of the Action" [TOS], to "Nemesis". Vehicles would make a nice addition to an already awesome rules system.

I'd totally be up for an Away Team sourcebook... including vehicles. Mmm, Argo. =)
