The Yorkshire-class armored transport is a small, compact troop ship designed to get a company of Rangers in and out of hot-spots quickly. Essentially an oversized and heavily armored shuttle, the Yorkshire replaced some of its standard armor with ablative plating in 2370, which proved invaluable in the Dominion War.

Many of the transports were moved to the reserve fleet following the war, and a small number are being refitted for a special operations role with the Rangers.
