I didn't have all the info on this character, so I had to make up a bunch of stuff, so it's still a rough work in progress. I may refine its history a bit, if I can find more info. Here it is. Constructive criticism is welcomed.

Artificial Intelligence - 47TX3 Series

Personality: Varies according to character concept, but are well known for streaks of initiative and cunning.

Physical Description: A 47TX3 unit is 2 meters tall, and is slightly cylindrical in shape except for the upper part of chassis, which is slightly spheroid in nature with crystal and metallic sensors and antennae.

Homeworld: Olcos IV, a factory and manufacturing planet in the Delta Quadrant.

Culture: 47TX3 units have no culture of their own, but often adopt the culture of friends or locations they inhabit.

Languages: Binary computer language protocols, and a language of choice as native languages.

Common Names: 47TX3 units are assigned serial numbers, but soon accept a name that friends give it, or choose any name it likes.

Example Names: C43211, X43, Andrus, Kelor, Latri, Tixol, Trelik,

Favored Profession: Any, except those that require locomotion or movement.

Species Adjustments: Strength and Agility equal to 0, +2 Vitality, +2 Intellect, -4 Presence. 47TX3 units are immobile but they are durable and intelligent. They are often very uncharismatic, and can be rather blunt at times.

Species Abilities

• Bonus Edge: Eidetic Memory: 47TX3 units are considered to be sentient computers; they are able to store any data they are directly exposed to. (See page 134).

• Bonus Skill: Computer Use: 47TX3 units are innately able to utilize other computers. They gain the Computer Use skill (see page 110) at skill level 1. Artificial life-form characters can treat this as a professional skill for the purposes of skill acquisition (see page 98) and advancement (see page 153).

• Mechanical Body: The body functions in a manner similar to organic life-forms, but is sturdier due to the engineered frame and high-tech materials. Effect: This life-form does not feel pain, and as a result, it only suffers one-half the normal physical penalties from injury. Mechanical bodies do not heal naturally unless the life-form also has the Self-Repair abilities, which represent the use of self-repairing materials and nano-technology. (for full benefits, see page 218 of the NG)

• Self-Diagnostics: By the use of internal sensors and advanced BIOS subroutines, it is able to diagnose damage done to the chassis or to software. Self-Diagnostic sub-routines repair software damage, but is able to identify damage to hardware systems. To diagnose damage to any systems requires a successful Computer Use skill check (TN 10) and a successful test (TN 10) to repair software damage.

• Flaw: Emotionless: Any character with this flaw will take a -2 to all Social skill checks, nor can they use courage points for any Social checks as well. Special: This flaw can only be bought off by the use of 1 advancement.

• Immobility: This life-form lacks the normal means of locomotion. This life-form can only move by the assistance of others. Reduce the life-form’s normal rate of movement to “n/a.” (See page 217 NG).

47TX3 units may initially choose 1 of the following, and purchase up to 2 additional abilities. Each will cost 1 full advancement:

• Built-in Communicator: Artificial life-forms with this ability are able to communicate with others who use subspace communications

• Self-Repair: A 47TX3 unit is able to repair damage done to its chassis, or to its internal hardware. The method of repair is usually nano-robots, or replication of broken components. Upon making a successful test (TN 10), the life-form regenerates a total number of wound points equal to 1 + its Vitality modifier each hour. This ability may be upgraded just as a trait. Self-Repair 2 decreases the test time to each ½ hour. Self-Repair 3 decreases the time to ¼ hour. This ability cannot be upgraded past Self-Repair 3. (This ability is similar to the Regenerate ability, see page 220, NG)

• Self-Defense Weapon: The Artificial life-form is armed with the equivalent of a Type 1 Phaser which enables the life-form to defend itself.

• Appendages: The unit is equipped with appendages that allow it to manipulate items in its environment, but they do no allow locomotion. This ability gives the life-form a Strength and Agility of 4 respectively. These attributes can be improved as non-favored attributes.

• Armor: An artificial life-form with this ability has a chassis that is created from a damage resistant material. The life-form is able to reflect damage equal to 3 plus the life-form’s Vitality modifier. This must be an initial pick during character creation, or at narrator’s discretion. (see “Armor,” page 214 of Narrator’s Guide)

The 47TX3 series was originally designed to be a low-cost, self-aware machine that could be used as a backup computer for small starships, or for an individual who needed a competent assistant or companion. The 47TX3 series performed quite well in these capacities, until it was found out that they were more than just computers, but actual sentient beings. This problem was caused because a positronic matrix was used for the brain. Most units were destroyed, or dismantled due to owner fears. The 47TX3 line was discontinued in 2350. There are still hundreds of active units in the Delta Quadrant. The line was so prevalent that there is a possibility that units may now be found in the Beta, Gamma, and possibly even the Alpha Quadrants.
