Well qerlin, I will admit to eating from time to time

JonA: I tried the blue on my b&w laser printer, it worked out fine - but I'll fine tune things as soon as they're over. Thanks!

Thanks as well for the warning... I thought they had calmed down? After all, EAS, DITL and stinsv are still online... Well, if I get one of these letters, I'll remove the images immediately, after all it's a lot easier to do layout without images! But that sure as hell would be stupid on their part as I'm trying to promote the RPG (just look at all the references to the NG and Starships... The fact is, ESO is of not much use if you don't have both the NG and Starships).

Oh, well, lawyers have to make a living

The darker blue in your samples is fine. Such as

    http://rpg.lionelkw.com/eso_sample1.pdf

It's just that electric, almost neon, blue that you've used in the chapters that doesn't work well. Such as

    http://rpg.lionelkw.com/eso_ch1.pdf

Just my opinion though. It's all a matter of asthetics and taste I suppose.

Well true. It's just a friendly warning. I know Paramount are particularly protective over their Star Trek copyrights. It's fine if you have their permission (such as Decipher and numerous other websites) but if you don't then they might raise a concern, regardless if your item is in support of a sanctioned Star Trek product such as the RPG. But i'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Ask Doug or Jesse. I'm sure if there was a problem with this product of yours they'd have said. I personally hope I'm proved wrong as I can't wait for the day I can download your work in it's entiriety.

As do Taxmen, Stock Brokers, Second-hand Car Salespeople and Estate Agents. Doesn't make their career option any more acceptable though.
We have all your working biros and we're not afraid to use them.

Leave a box of used postit notes and a box of paperclips inside the filling cabinet and things won't get nasty.

Well, to be honest, I'm not entirely satisfied with the blue either But I have troubles with the color correspondences. Anyway that will be easy to change - I'll see if I can find something better.

About the book, well I'm really infringing nothing IMO, as I'm promoting Trek, the RPG and gaining nothing in return! If some executive wants to be overzealous, I'll desist... and raise a fuss everywhere about it AFAIK there's some tolerance now with images online - networks have more serious business to attend, like p2p piracy - than sue for some images found here and there...

Well, whale hunters also have to make a living, and that doesn't make them nice in my view

    Thanks for the advice guys

I think I agree with John on the colour. It will probably depend alot on people's monitor calibration to determine exactly what they see, but I might suggest you just knock it down to about 100% Cyan and 20% Magenta for a nice darker cyan/blue ?

Back to the subject of the content, what you've done there is quite nice, including a few professional abilities tied into your mass combat rules.

Your crew brak downs are also quite nice, and yes also I can't see a Borg Couselor either

Yes, I tend to think that would be like seeing Dr. McCoy or Mr. Spock walk onto the bridge wearing a teddy.

    That's part of my job.

    KW-

I looked over all the chapters you've posted and it looks good so far. Are you going to be releasing the ESO chapter by chapter or in one whole file?

And here's another strange mental image...Worf as the Em-Cee in Cabaret.

    Thanks guys
I'll see what I can do about the blue.

DS: No, I intend to release one single big file with all the stuff in it, probably updated a bit (I'll include Don's ruling on tractor beams and maybe downpower a bit the isokinetic cannon).

I'm wondering if you can't come half way on the Tractor Beam thing? .. The edge it's self might be to allow you to use multiple tractor beams safelly. For example - towing while at warp is a dangerous operation.. You would have to make System Ops rolls of 15 - perhaps the Edge gives you a +4 to towing while at warp rolls? Just a thought.

Also - How do you construct a weapon such as the Cardassian Warhead, which not only has a sophisticated AI (which would need base stats) But weapons systems to defend it's self, and is MUCh more powerful than a normal torpedo?

There have been a few weapons seen on Voyager of this ilk, so some ideas on that might be good.

I can't ignore the ruling as it comes from Don and therefore is semi-official: I always vowed, when I started this project, to follow very closely the game-canon material... Sorry

The Cardassian warhead, I'd say... Give it Sentient Computer, and add extra ruling for when it hits. I'll think of these weapons, thanks for the tip!

    All right...

I don't resist to the pleasure of teasing you again

I'm working on the sample ship profiles now. That and the sheets are the last things remaining.

Here are the profiles to the Olympic and Peregrine classes. I hope you like'em
    http://rpg.lionelkw.com/eso_prof.pdf
That will also show you how the layout of the profiles will be done.

Very nice KW - quite simple and pleasing on the... printer

I don't think that the pictures even quite need the frame, so long as they fill the page as they do.

Are you going to be keeping the miimal approach or using an LCARS braket over the titles? I could go either way as I like the simple lines of this.. Just curious?

    Thanks

I've been thinking about the LCARS brackets, but I feel they would be too much. I quite like the simple look it has now. (Expect a full LCARS look on the sheets on the other hand )

As for the frame, yup, I'm not convinced it's a good idea. I'll remove it.

oooo...pretty. I was going to ask what other ships you're doing, but I'd rather be surprised.
