    Starship manuever question

When using the Multiweapon manuever, do you have to use two different weapons?

In other words: do you have fire, for example, phasers and photons, or can you use all of your ship's phasers in one attack?
Can I have some Amy Jo Johnson, mama?

The description of the maneuver specifically states that you use multiple weapon systems to make the attack. In fact, a ship with only one type of weapons system (like, say, the Herbert-class from the NG) could not make a Multiweapon maneuver.

As I understand it (and I'm sure Don will correct me if I'm wrong... ), the starship combat & design system is abstract enough that you aren't worrying about individual weapon emplacements, but instead about weapon systems. This also explains why there are no firing arcs noted for any of the weapons.

Yes. The text on page 119 of the NG states it pretty clearly:

"The starship fires two or more weapons systems (phasers and photon torpedoes, for example) at one opponent."

If you want to fire the same weapon twice, you use the Multifire maneuver:

"The starship fires one weapons system at multiple ships, regardless of its primary target."
In other words: do you have fire, for example, phasers and photons, or can you use all of your ship's phasers in one attack?
Using "all of your ship's phasers in one attack" (against one target) is a standard Fire maneuver; you are bringing all your available weapons in a system to bare on one target. (NG 117)
