the Xindi would be a multi-species race [...] a number of sentient species evolved nearly simultaneously on their homeworld and now co-habitate [including] an insectoid species.
T'Pol [...] they're changing her hair style (maybe they'll let Jolene use her own hair, instead of stuffing it underneath that skull cap of hers) and her uniform (specifically stated a "different cat suit"). Also, she's supposed to actually resign her commission with the Vulcan High Command because of the order to "not participate."
    [...]
Enterprise will now carry a squad/company of SEAL-like commandoes (non-Starfleet types) for added muscle. Berman stated that if any of the actors really shine, they may be added to the regular cast.
Also, the attack on Earth is supposed to destroy everything from Florida to Venezuela. Tucker's sister and his Florida home town are both casualties. This will inject a streak of vengance into the Tucker character.
Well, the aliens sound interesting. It'll be cool to see some non-bumpy-headed-human aliens.
T'Pol's hair has bugged me from day one. It looks awful on Blalock, IMHO. I'm curious to see where this separation form the Vulcan heirarchy aykes her. I wonder if the new catsuit will be "sexier".
The "Seals" thing bugs me, one reason being that it sounds like an excuse for more sweaty hardbody scenes. Might make for some nice character conflicts, though...but then there's the risk that characters like Hoshi and Mayweather will get even less exposure.
Oh, and yeah - vengeance. We need more of that.

A couple of my own points, for whatever they're worth:

Peaceful exploration of the galaxy is the mandate of Starfleet around the time of TOS and TNG. We don't know *what* happened to lead up to this.

Earth *tried* peaceful exploration, and had some success. Earth's entry into the Temporal War has apparently upset the applecart, so to speak, so one of the individuals has manuevered the Xindi into attempting Earth's destruction. It's actually not a bad move -- I suspect that if time travel were *actually possible*, temporal enemies would attempt to redact each other out of history.

It's unclear whether the Xindi are part of the main timeline or not, because they've never been mentioned before this. It would probably have been a better idea to manuever the Romulans into doing this. However, they've established technological parity (more or less) between Romulans and Earth (and this would have to be the case). The sort of attack described suggests an opponent with some technological superiority.

Perhaps most importantly, Berman and Braga are reacting to the lower ratings by attempting to improve the show. I can't fault them for that. Based on the nuggets leaked so far, some have concluded that the changes aren't improvements, and more power to them for their opinions. I plan to withhold judgement until I've watched an episode or two next season. It may be that the doomsayers are right, but I can't fault the producers for at least attempting to make change. To me, that says they realize that what they're doing right not isn't attracting fans.

Personally, I think Berman and Braga should be moved to other projects, and fresh talent placed in charge. But they apparently have Paramount's confidence, so I don't expect to see that happen.

In short, I'm taking a wait and see approach for now. I'll likely be watching considerably less TV next year, as some old favorites have disappointed me this year or are ending and some new series never reached their potential. Enterprise may be among the victims. It's happened before (I gave up on X-Files well before it ended). But the Trek geek inside me is willing to give them this one more chance.

Well, I certainly won't do an Enterprise bashing here, because I really like the series. But that is exactly the point. I like the series at it is. Its about exploration the very thing I want to do in the future and what I always liked about Star Trek.
A war arc in Enterprise has to be well thought about if not to be a bad copy of the Dominion War. However, as far as I remember that is meant as a short story arc for Season 3 and not for the whole series.

But I remember Seaquest which was also subject to steady changes. And what was once also about exploration of the oceans soon turned into a war arc, which I definitely did not like and obviously the fans as wel, because the series was canceled.
Hopefully that does not happen to ENT.

I most certainly was NOT agreeing with you, and I will thank you not to intentionally twist my words. As I alerady pointed out, just because the idea bears similarities to other shows, doesn't mean it is 'ripped off'. People often come up with the same ideas independently.

And even if they took inspiration from other places, there is a vast difference between inspiration and plaigarism. And it seems quite clear which you are accusing them of. Thank you, but I'll keep an open mind.

I never said plagerized and please do not put words in my mouth.
So JMS is not inspired but B&B are for taking this idea?
I have said more than once this is uninspired and boring and is unoriginal. I never said they plagurized you did.
You said it was uninspired and that is what you said earlier. I am not twisting your words. Don't accuse me of something you stated. You can not have it both ways. If JMS was not inspired with his idea nor is B&B. Simple state of fact saying anything else is hypocritical.
I did not twist your words I stated exactly what you said and all of it unlike when you quoted me you did not use my full post.
    Hey my opinion

Without Star Trek: The Original Series there would be no other Trek Series or Movies regardless of shows rewriting the Series past.

Actually, T'lara, it appeared to me that you blatantly and maliciously twisted the meaning of his words. Perhaps you didn't notice that he was being sarcastic with that original statement?

I understood his meaning...that there are very few truly original ideas out there. JMS fielded previously used ideas...so does B&B....and so did Gene. Just because you can use the phrase "it's been done before" for something, doesn't make it a bad idea.

Maybe you should tread just a little lighter around here and treat people and their opinions with respect, and maybe you'll get a little back in return.

Excuse me but 'ripped off' suggests an accusation of plaigarisim. I suggest you try to be a little more precise in your language next time if that was not your intention.

As for putting words in people's mouths, that's your game. I most certainly did not say anything was uninspired, and you are YET AGAIN, misquoting me. I merely observed that Crusade was not an original idea either. That hardly supports your argument, which was, and I quote "Bermen is "borrowing" (ripping off) JMS's ideas for Babylon Crusade!. " That is an accusation of plaigarism, whether you want to try and talk your way out of it or not. That's my issue with your statement, it has nothing to do with whether it's a good or bad idea.

This has gone beyond useful purpose and to those that stayed on topic I am sorry but because of (false)accusations this thread has been closed.
