A hard decision. I think Undiscovered Country is great as well. The last to pieces and the introduction title are wonderful.
However I like the ST VIII theme as well. It somehow nice showed Picards desperate hate and still the nobleness of Starfleet. I also like the introductionary piece of ST IX, which was so peaceful with that sudden break of violence. Well done, catched the mood of the movie.
ST X, the last piece is also nice, especially when 'Blue Skies' is shortly featured in it, before climaxing into the TNG theme.

Which I actually do not like at all is the soundtrack of ST II.

One of the best pieces however is the TNG theme, slowly played when refit Enterprise NCC-1701 leaves Spacedock in ST I. That
    was great.

Because of its lighter tone, and because of the cool Jazz Fusion tracks by The Yellowjackets,

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

ST: TMP, with ST II & First Contact tied for second. Like the Nemesis stuff, too...

Voyager, because I know the series the song reminds that no matter how bad things go, there is always hope. I usually play this song when I am depressed or something. Damn hormonal mood swings

    "Fanfare for the Common Man"

    **blink**

    What, that isn't Trek music???

Okay, then I will just go for my "Ultimate Trek Collection" which has the themes to all four series (pre-Enterprise) and bits from movies 1-6 and the first two TNG films.

Not a bad way to go

    Favorite Trek Soundtrack

I would have to say it is a toss-up between NEMESIS and The Undiscovered Country.

I do love ST:TMP's soundtrack....I would have to say it had more of a hall effect sound to it's majestic music.

Honorable mention: STIII: Search For Spock....The SFS Suite was really cool.

Now...just to add a twist to the thread....two other composers I would love to see do a Trek score.

    John Williams or Basil Poleduris

I think the Generations theme is also very trek-like.

    Surely...

Star Trek 2- Fist pounding and anthemic.. the tracks used for the final battle was awesome especially seeing the starships glide gracefully to the music.

Star Trek 3- doesn't rock as the previous one but still beautiful to listen to. "Stealing the Enterprise" is like "Stairway to Heavan", just so awesome!! and "Return to Vulcan" is really beautiful to listen to ...you can picture the BOP landing softly on Vulcan. "klingon" tracks fits nicely for the Klingons as opposed to Jerry Goldsmith's..no disrpect to his greatness.

Star Trek 6- was a departure..at times i felt it didn't fit but it was good nonetheless. The Assination track was nice.

First Contact- was awesome..it brings a lot of memories of the only great TNG movie

I plan on getting Generations and i keep hearing how great TMP soundtrack is, so i might get that one too

From what I understand, too, is that the Generations soundtrack had some bonus tracks which were sound effects from the movie.

Yep. 22 sound effects. Bridge background, transporters, doors, tricorders, warp, the E-D crash etc.
