    JEM'HADAR SHROUDING in ALIENS??

I just got the Aliens book and it may have been covered already, but why don't the Jem Hadar have their "shrouding" ability anymore?

They had it throughout the series didn't they?
or do i just have a really poor memory.

This isn't eBay, so excessive use of capital letters isn't necessary :)

Please don't take the above personal.

I don't have the Aliens book, yet, but I am sure any omission of the Jem'Hadars' shrouding ability is an error and unintentional.

Dear God I hope that is an error!

Yes, in Deep Space Nine they had the Shroud abilities through out the series. Man, when Aliens gets to my gaming store I can confirm.

Without Star Trek: The Original Series there would be no other Trek Series or Movies regardless of shows rewriting the Series past.

I really see no need for this kind of reaction. If it isn't menstioned in the book, then the book is obviously wrong. YES, such things do happen.
I really don't care if it is explicitely stated that the Jem'Hadar can shroud or not, since the Jem'Hadar in my campaign will definitely be able to do so.

Relax, Folks! Shrouding is mentioned in Aliens. It's in a sidebar on page 88 that gives information on the technology used by the species.

Please, use what I completely said instead of one little snippit. Particaurly when they are together. Doing so is just bad ettiquette on the boards. Because I also said was I need to confirm when I get my copy.
Hearing they may have missed something like Shroud is like saying Vulcans do not have the Nerve Pinch! That Humans do not breath oxygen.

    Thank You.

Maybe I missed something you said equipment? I thought in Deep Space Nine TV series it was inheirant part of their genetic engineering. Did I miss the episode?

No. It was a tech advantage the Jemmies had. Not a species ability.

Hey can you recall an episode name or description? My buddy has all the series on tape and catagorized? A bunch of us here are arguing over it is tech or not. I swear it's inherant but I could be wrong.

This would be a real help.

    Thankies,
Anyone who can help me here.

Sorry can't do that. I only seem to remeber an ep where they (Sisko and the Admiral...I think.) discussing the Shroud ability as being a tech thing.

    Better?

Honestly, since you appeared to want to express your emotional reaction to the news about the Jem'Hadar in Aliens in your first sentence and since your second sentence, dealing not with that reaction, was seperated from the first one by a paragraph I didn't really think they were referring to the same thing. That's why I believed that it wouldn't matter of I just copied that part of your post that I was referring to. All I wanted was to calm you down.

Maybe it seemed as if I was intending to pick at everyone's posts, but that definitely isn' the case, so please try not to see it that way.

There's an episode with a Jem'Hadar child who grows on board DS9, without ever approaching Jem'Hadar technology (though he was genetically fearing Odo), and who showed in the end of the episode that he could shroud.
Then again, maybe there was a piece of tech in the container where he was found that allowed him to shroud. However, I remember another episode (during the 6-episodes arc at the beginning of season 6) where Jem'Hadars, deprived of white, can't shroud anymore.

And no, I don't have Aliens so far, so I can't tell whether it's written in the book as a technology or a species ability

Maybe the technical components they use to shroud are implanted very early in infancy, or even earlier. Since they are a genetically engineered race they could be programmed to grow neurons that connect with the devices, allowing them to shroud. This would even make sense, since it is probably easier to coordinate the growth of all neural pathways at once than triggering some new nerves to grow at a later point without interfering with already existing tissue.
