Does not mean it is right. We have named Episodes in this Thread that support that it is not a device but part of the genetic design of the Jem'Hader.
Just because it is published in their roleplaying books does not mean this is not a mistake. Or there would be no need for Erratas.
    Hey my opinion

Without Star Trek: The Original Series there would be no other Trek Series or Movies regardless of shows rewriting the Series past.

Jem'Hadar use the Dominion quick-shimmer transporter system, including an armband remote control and a personal cloaking device, or "shroud.". Their uniform also includes energy absorbing pads that can defeat a Starfleet Level 3 containment field, and a recessed collar-bone area to hold the Ketracel-white vial.
I think we can all say StarTrek.com is CANNON. Do what you want for your game, cannon word is though it's technology.

As an FYI startrek.com is not actually considered to be canon as far as I am aware. Yes, I know it's the official site, but they've been known to make stuff up as well. Not to mention, they also list the Animated Series, which is not considered canon by the powers that be. So I would be careful quoting it as canon.

Simply because it's the oppisite of what you belive doesn't make it wrong or invalid.

Also notice I said it depended on the person's game as to what they choose.

And people wonder why I don't post on here much anymore

To add some fuel, and later put it off myself, I'll say that the only 'canon' source for Star Trek material are the series and the movies (unfortunately, Star Trek V too, never being officially displaced by TPTB). The Encyclopedia (by M. and D. Okuda) collects all of this data and makes some conjectures up, which are considered canon until something on screen disputes it (Klingon first contact case in point).

So, obviously, what we have here is an opinion from the LUG/CODA team, which they're holding, maybe because of disinformation, or just rules convenience, since 1999 (when the DS9 core book was written).

    For some more point clarification:
    - Goran'Agar produced Ketracel White naturally, an abnormality form the preestablished Jem'Hadar design
    - The kid from The Abandoned came along with a provision of White in his vat

And now some opinions from yours truly
No news about the possibilities of combining biological and artificial rechnology: look at the Borg. I don't think the Dominion have any moral reserves to implant or inbred a machinery piece early in the cloning process. So, the Shroud device may very well (and most likely) be artificial (non-biological) in nature, but controlled by hormones or other protein, like Ketracel White.

As I've said before, each to their own. If you like things a certain way, then do them that way. If that means following canon, or diverging from canon, it doesn't really matter if it's what you want for your game. If the RPG information disagrees with your version of events, then ignore the game. Personally, I much repfer the shrouding ability to be a biological function, so that's what I go with. But that doesn't mean anyone else should agree with me, noe would I expect them to.

I think most of us believe that. And it's worth remembering that at the end of the day, nothing we do in our games is actually part of canon

If I may interject a thought here.... I am led to believe that the Shroud is actually something genetic with the Jem'HaDar as well.
I cannot remember the episode title...but Sisko and company had crashlanded on a planet where some Jem'HaDar were also marooned...along with their Vorta. There was a desperate shortage of Ketracell White among the Jem'HaDar, and of course, they were unable to control their urge for battle. And, if I remember correctly, a Jem'HaDar had stated that he could not shroud....I think that Shrouding is something that requires a great deal of concentration on the part of the soldier in question...and the lack of the White hampered such concentration considerably.

Just an opinion. For the record, I think that you should go with whatever suits your game....whether it be technological or biological.

    Respectfully,
