I wish I could give you more eloquent words than these, Aslan, but you and your family have my deepest, most heartfelt condolences.

Hey Aslan. I understand what those relationships can be like. My great-aunt, though she did marry, never had children and in many ways was a second mother to my mother. She also treated my brother and me like grandchildren. When she passed away, a few years ago it was a rough experience for the entire family, so I can imagine something of what you and your family are going through.
I'd give advice to remember the good times but to be honest that is unneeded - in time you'll come remember the good times more than you feel sorrow. It's just the getting to that point that sucks.
Peace.

From what you've said about her, she was one of the good people...the world can NEVER have to many of those...

The funeral is on Friday.

But I know if the Christians are right, then she is in Heaven right now playing cards with my Aunt Beatrice as well
All my thanks and the thanks of my family.

Having lost my mother back in 1988, I know what it feels like. Gotta give yourself time to grieve and come to term. The pain is still there but it gets a little bit easier to bear after time.Originally posted by AslanC

Anyhoo, just some random thoughts...
