I for one don't want species books. I want Empire books. I mean, I don't need an entire book on Vulcans or Andorians. The LUG books were way cool, to be sure. But did I need them? No. A chapter in a Federation Sourcebook would have been sufficent for me.
I am happy with Klingons because its a substancial Empire as well as being a race. I think a lot of mileage can be gained from this book by gamemasters. If I was to buy a species book I want more than one species included, grouped into either a region (like a Quadrent) or based on their alliagence (such as Dominion or Federation).
What other Empire Books would I like to see? In Order?
Klingons, Federation, Dominion, Borg, Cardassians, Romulans, Empires of the Alpha Quadrent (the minor ones), Empires of the Gamma Quadrent (maybe a companion to the Dominion book), Empires of the Delta Quadrent.
You could move the Romulans to the end because of we have "Way of D'era". The Cardies and the Borg could be delayed cause they have been decimated in recent Trek history and are probably not a big player in current Trek history yet.

While I can see all of your points about the Way of D'era being duplicated - it isn't - because this is a completelly new system and therefore needs it's own books. I would quite like to see a final version of the Romulans, but the problem is it's now going to have to be shelved untill a few series of enterprise gets underway, because they are changing the timeline on the fly, making it extremelly hard to have any sort of 'definitive' timeline for technology!
For that reason the Borg source book would be easy to make as they are wrapped up. Of course they will be back I am sure(I mean it IS the second time the Borg queen died - think about it!!!)

I agree that they need their own books eventually. I want all the information in LUGTrek "CODAfied" eventually but not right now. I want new info first. While I can see all of your points about the Way of D'era being duplicated - it isn't - because this is a completelly new system and therefore needs it's own books.
CODATrek follows LUGTrek continuity except where it had to be revised due to revelations from Trek. The whole D'era thing is straight from the LUGTrek days (as is the Andorian Keths IIRC). So except one Enterprise episode and Nemesis, most of the Romulans history is going to be pretty much from "Way of D'era". Decipher reps, correct me if I am wrong here.
So while CODATrek may be a brand new system, its pretty much following the continuity and spirit of the LUGTrek line.
Personally I would rather see a book on an Empire not really covered by CODA or LUGTrek first, rather than a replacement for a sourcebook that pretty much still serviceable.

Since that book was written the Klingons/Federation Alliance had the Romluans join creating the Allies vs the Dominion. With changes from that and introduction of some of the Romulan Star Empire Races that can change alot of the information the Remans (much as the idea of them I hate) the destruction of the Romulan Senate etc. Too much information changes from the LUG information would mean a a rerwrite and the Romulan are also felt in Enterprise with the Mine Field and possibly later in the series as well. Romulan background has changed alot.Originally posted by prophetsteve

I do not think there needs to be books on all the races but many factions.
Klingon Empire- Long Standing Enemy and Ally depending of the Era.
Romulans Star Empire- Classic enemy from all the Eras.
Dominion- Big new enemy
Ferengi- Enemy and sometimes ally.
Something on some other groups that have not had as big an influance but can be grouped in a book together. Combine the Tholans, Orion Syndicate, Gorn, Son'a into the book a chapter and such on these groups and other minor Enemy orginazations.
Hey my opinion
Without Star Trek: The Original Series there would be no other Trek Series or Movies regardless of shows rewriting the Series past.
Honestly except for the Remans there isn't a big change in background. Trek has done a very poor job of developing their cutulure. Big development in historical record yes, but we have seen very little that has expanded our knoweldge of Romulans themselves. Not like we have had with the Klingons, Vulcans, Ferengi, or even the Bajorans, for example.Since that book was written
As for as the Remans - personally I think their influence is small (or we would have seen them before). They did serve as shock troops in the Dominion War but seem a repressed near-slave minority rather than an active part of the Empire. And since I find the Remans silly I am quite happy to leave them without much influence on Romulan history
I want a Rommies book as well as a revision to the Time Travel book (with all the Enterprise Temporal War stuff added), and a Federation book with updated Andorian and Vulcan info.
However I don't want a Rommies or the other books in a slot where an untouched Empire or faction book could have been slotted (especially this soon in the game) Concidering we lost LUG before we could get Klingons and Cardassians I don't want to cover old territory so soon when there are dozens of other species books that could be done.
I want Cardassians, Klingons, Dominion, Ferengi (maybe bought together with other Merchant/Pirate races like the Orion), etc. before we go back on things that LUG has touched.
Its just that I would like Coda to cover new territory first before it goes about revising all previously released books
