    Weapon damage errata

Hi, folks, I'm new here. I just got the LotR RPG core book through Amazon.

Anyway, I was wondering: why are the weapon damages so drastically altered in the errata? Over on rpg.net, somebody mentioned that it might have something to do with bringing LotR more in line with the Trek RPG. Is that the reason, or is there something else?

That was a big part of the reason, yeah. The other part was that all but like one or two weapons had damage of "2d6+X". The only difference in damage between a dagger and a long sword was only 3 points of damage. And, since the LOTR damages completely disregarded the damage established for the same weapons in Trek, TPTB decided it would be best to errata both weapons lists to be more consistant.

Edit: Checked the damage in the core book and corrected the dagger/longsword difference.

OK, that clears things up. Thanks!
