Emissaries to the East PBeM

I am starting my second Lord of the Rings PBeM chronicle. It is setting about 50 years before the War of the Ring, briefly after the Battle of the Five Armies and the driving out of the Necromancer from Dol Guldur. The wise are sending a group of heroes as emissaries to the east to try to form new alliances and discover the whereabouts of the Blue Wizards. I'm certainly up for it, but I'd like to know a bit more info - how often it is, how you're handling dice rolls, etc...

General stuff really.

And for reference, I'll probabley play an Elven loremaster or magician. I assume Elves are okay with you?
