    Photon Class

Here is one of my self-created ships.
It's the PHOTON-Class, a fast surveyeor in my opinion.
I have established it as a modular ship wiath two modules to attach to the hull.
All modules are describes as well and tie in into the ships concept.

I developed it for our campaign as our first ship after leaving the academy.
The Storyteller wanted a small ship, sp that we, as mere ensigns, could be justifiably be one the command-crew without hundreds of crewman to assist us.
It's a really small, but damned fast ship, developed as a little companion to the Intrepid and Nova-Class Ships.

Came through just fine for me.
"War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Just tested it from another machine, it worked.
Try downloading it first and opening then, not opening from th eboard directly. I once had problems with that (whyever)

That did the trick, thanks, never had a problem with that before.

Nice little ship, I can see this in widespread use. Does it need Type X Phasers though? VII or even VIIIs for the War Module would make it very well armed for its size. What does the Delta Flyer have? SRM doesn't have it and my Spotter isn't handy. If it has X's, then please ignore the above comment.

    Any thoughts on an exterior?

I have some drawings for he exterior.

But these have to be reworked. The Nacelles are too small. Otherwise its a classic configuration.
Deck 1, on top of the saucer, has Bridge, Medical, Transporter, Laboratory and two crew quarters.
Deck 2, the main saucer deck, has the lone holodeck, the mess, a conference room, 8 crewquarters and the computer cores.
Deck 3 has the torpedeoroom, the modules, 2 small cargo areas, 2 crew quarters and the upper part of the engine-room with the impulse-drives.
Deck 4 has the main deflector, the cargo-room and the lower part of the engine section.
Other systems are under the main decks.

In the evening, when I am home I will post some drawings and plans for the ship.

    To the Phasers.

At first I had a Type VIII-Phaser, but after seeing that a Type X Phaser wont be too much of an SU-increase I wanted to add some punch. The ship has only one Phaser-Strip, so this should be a bigger one.
    Same saying for the War-Modules.

My Storyteller was happy, so we wont have to flee each opponent.

I must say that I am a little bit disappointed that besides Publius none of you post his opinion to my latest contribution.

Is it so good that you are all stunned with awe or is it so bad that you dont want to hurt my feelings with your critics?

I've gotten used to the silence myself. There are days that go by in which I wonder whether my posts are completely invisible. Of course, the density of posts here (edit- i.e. in this thread -edit) has all but dried up as well. It may be that with the new game a lot of people have gravitated towards the new stuff. Frankly, I like a lot more detail in my combats, although Spacedock levels of detail can get too much on the tabletop (unless you are really prepped, I did that once and it was fun), so I plan on using it for my PBeM. Be it ever so humble, I remember the FASA system kindly (except power allocation, whihc is even harder in Spacedock) but I also understand it is way too far behind the Trek-curve to use.

Overall, nice modular design Assassin, thanks for putting it up here.

Yeah Publius that's my guess pretty much as well. Most people have switched to CODA I imagine. I my elf detest the power allocation aspect in the role playing game but I've played SFB for years and FASA as well.

Interesting design. I find that the smaler ships work better in ICON/Spacedock because they are so hampered in CODA with the size limitations. A size 3 ship can't use anything bigger than a type V phaser.

Your mission pods remind me alot of the runabout idea. I assume that's where you got your inspiration?

Tahnks for the answers. I thought I was the last one spacedocking.....

To be honest the idea of a modular design came with th ejoke of my GM who suggested to build in a trailer coupling because this ship is so small.
And as I went on and made some rough deckplans I discovered there would be space for this and thought about it.
The modular design of the runabouts was a confirmation for this concept to be used by starfleet.
At first there were only few modules in paired configuration but after some time I got to 8 modules with several combinations.

Owen's site, Memory Icon will house all the ICOn/Spacedock material there. It's so going I think as owen is a busy man. But I'm sure eventually Owen will do a bang-up job.

It's a pretty neat ship, unfortunately doesn't translate well to CODA but I'm thinking of throwing out the size limitaion for weapons seeing as I run the game anyways.

If It's ok with you, I will do up a CODA version and post it ?

It's OK, I myself have "only" the LUG-Trek books and adopted spacedock for spaceship-rules. I haven't buyed the Decipher-Books.....yet.

Be so kind and let my nick on it, as the original creator.

Have you seen the drawings? (Word )
