    Weather control devices.

I'm developing an episode concept entailing a Federation meteorological station located on a planet that is preparing for UFP membership. This planet has rather complex, if not outright bizarre, weather patterns that would greatly interest any meteorologist worth his salt.

My question is, does 24th-century earth, or any other UFP member planet for that matter, utilise weather control of any sort? When one sees scenes of earth in the various series, we almost always note sunny skies and pleasant climatic conditions.

    Thanks in advance.

Weather control is explicitely mentionned in at least two episodes I can recall, Let he who is without sin in DS9 (where Worf sabotages the weather control of Risa) and TNG's episode Sub Rosa, where a colony asks the Enterprise to check their weather control system.
So we can safely assume that a lot of worlds now use this technology in the 24th century (except maybe Vulcan, given what we saw of it in ST IV).

There was also mention of a "Weather Modification Net" in the episode where the lovely Olivia D'abo played a newly discovered Q. In the episode, part of her backstory is that her parents were killed by a tornado...and Picard wondered why the tornado wasn't dissipated by the Weather Modification Net.
