Gaming looks like it is on an upswing, at least in my area. Bookstores are starting to a very limited number of games. Thsi has only started in the last couple of years...LUG Trek was actually the first one I saw in my local bookstore. As a whole things look good, but that could change if prices keep sky rocketing.

The local stores here all seem to keep Trek in stock, although few do a decent job pre-ordering it. I had to place a special order for the Starfleet Officer's Manual but the shop I bought it at had several copies of Starships when it was initially released.

It never suffered much of a downturn here, just shifted back and forth between the latest import board games, the most recent Magic supplement, whatever new Games Workshop release happened to be current, and various somewhat insular roleplaying groups. Ann Arbor has a lot of LARPers (both World of Darkness and homebrew settings), a lot of Amber and diceless roleplay fans, as well as surprisingly numerous Tekumel , Glorantha and Pendragon contingents.

The STRPG is alive and well here in San Diego. There are 3 indepenent game stores (with a new one opening Aug. 1) and 3 Wizards stores. The store I shop at regularly allways reorders the PG and NG after they sell out, apparently just to have them on hand. When anything new is released they have it on the shelves about 2 days after it hits the stores in the East Coast and Midwest. They sell out and reorder more. Most of the guys in my gaming group own the core books, some of them have everything. But there are other people buying them too,so there is an intrest in the game .

As to the other stores,I know that the next closest to me stocks the books, not sure how well they sell. And the Wizards stores don't really sell anything besides their own RPGs.

Hi guys, this is of course my first post, and I have to agree with
FAB about the availability in our area, although I hope it is not
the norm. I just happened to get my hands on starships and the
operations manual before they stopped carrying them.

DTrek seems to be doing all right in Sacramento. I buy the stuff at two different stores: A1 Comics and Viking Hobby. I also saw some ITrek stuff at places like Waldenbooks, Borders and Barnes And Noble. I have the first five books and would like to get the Screen for completeness sake. I really don't think the line is dying out. I like Prime Directive, but the guys who make it once said they thought DTrek wouldn't last, and now it has six products while GURPSPD only has one.

Okay, what is that Old Testament RPG like? What system? Is it respectful to those who believe in the subject? I'll check to see if this is answered in General Chat, and if it is, ignore this paragraph.

I think the SOM, Starships, and Aliens are worth buying. The SOM doesn't take up much extra space for transportation, and it adds nicely to the selection of ships and aliens available. I wish the pages in Ships weren't black so I could write on them, but the book is good. I've got problems with Aliens that I don't care to name, but I'm glad to have it.

My local game store has copies of all the products in abundance. Local bookstores, like B&N and Borders have a couple copies as well, though they stock more LOTR RPG books than Trek.

Maybe Trek is perceived as a brand in the decline or something.

All else fails, order from Decipher's store.
