78 advancements? Some skills above the maximum of 12. Honestly I don't believe that there is any use in assigning points to an NPC of Telek's power. Obviously he is capable of doing everything you, as a narrator, might want him to do, so why doing all the work of figuring out his statistics.
And one more thing, I think non-generic NPCs will be much more useful if they are accompanied by a detailed description.
I honestly hope this didn't sound too negative. I would really like to see more about this character, especially his background and how you intend to use him in your campaign.

    1) Why all the work? (shrug) Typing him up in a format acceptable for the boards was the most work.

    2) Skill levels fixed. And about the "power" level Setal has seen action 2271 in the Battle of Dumok'azen (what the Klingons call Klach D'kel Bracht) that's about 100 years of almost constant campaign.

    3) And you see a major point in people doing up detailed stats on Elrond and Gilgalad in LotRs? IIRC Elrond has 109 advances!

4)"...background to follow..." And it will, when I get the time. The character was done when I had some on my hands, this has changed. But, I still felt like posting him.

    5) No offense taken. I will field any legit question.

He looks good, Phantom. I'd be interested in seeing a 23rd Century version of him, personally (Considering a movie-Era game eventually that might involve the Romulans....)

Oh, and just to set the record stright, Elrond has 150 Advancements according to the FOTRSB.

    1) What year are you looking for? He would have entered service in 2271, his first major campaign was Dumok'azen.

    2) 150,eh. Hmmm, wow. I mean WOW!

Looks good Phantom. You have demonstrated your "older equals more advancements philosophy" you were talking about awhile back. This guy is scary.Wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley,or anywhere else. And you are right about a lack of posted NPCs.Maybe someone should start a "rogues gallery"thread.

Only partially, at least IMO anyway. Yes, I did factor in the extended age of a Romulan, but also took count of the almost continuous fighting this character has endured as well. So, you have age and experience blended nicely in this package I think.

    Question

Phantom, I think that Setal is a very good and well-designed NPC - especially for any TNG-based campaign set along the Neutral Zone. Kind of reminds me of dear old Senator Kassus from LUG's A Fragile Peace and The Way Of D'era supplements. As for game use, I see him as being someone who is the "mover and shaker" behind what the PC's encounter.

I also agree about a lack of suitable NPC's being posted on the Forum. Anyone else up for getting one started?

Yep. My thoughts exactly. (Although I also feel the stats makes sense... )
