    NOTES

The Theron is the newest courier class in the Romulan Navy, replacing the older Munora class. The Theron was designed to be very fast and stealthy. It has a very limited combat potential and it must use its speed and stealthy features to stay out of trouble as much as possible. The Theron is used mainly in well-patrolled areas and extensively along the Neutral Zone.

    MISCELLANEOUS DATA

    Maneuver modifiers: C +1 H +0 T +0

    EDGES AND FLAWS

    Design defect (impulse) [None]

    NOTES

The Horos is the Romulan fleet’s main purpose-built scientific vessel. It is equipped with extensive scientific research facilties such as laboratories and stellar cartography halls. It is also equipped with ample shuttlebay and transporter facilities to support planet-bound scientific operations. As it may be expected on a purely scientific vessel its tactical abilities are quite limited. As such the Horos is either deployed alone within the boundaries of the empire or it is escorted when travelling in areas deemed to be more dangerous. One glaring weakness of the class is its inabilty to travel effetcively at speeds above full impulse (0.25c). The class was upgraded in 2355 as part of the Praetorian Edict of 2348 (the Romulan Expansion Directive) with the lastest sensors and with the impulse drive flaw corrected.

    D'Seren Fleet Tender

Tractor beams: 1 FV, 1 FD, 1 AV, 1 AD
Cloaking system: Class 1 (rating 16)
    Sensor system: Class 1 (+1/B)
    Operations system: Class 2 (C)
    Life support: Class 1 (B)

    PRODUCTION DATA

    Impulse system: RIB-2 (0.8c/BB)
Warp system: Type 2C (warp 5/6.5/7.5) (BB)

    TACTICAL DATA

Beam primary: [Type II] RMD-2 (x3A)
    Penetration: 3/3/2/0/0
    Deflector shield: PFF 2 (A)
    Protetcion/treshold: 12/2

    MISCELLANEOUS DATA

    Maneuver modifiers: C +1 H +1 T -1

    EDGES AND FLAWS

    Hardened system (shields)

    NOTES

The D’Seren tender is a specialized repair craft. They are always deployed in wings of at least 5 ships, as a single wing can tow a badly damaged warbird. But the D’Seren’s main function is to conduct emergency field repairs near the battle lines. It is equipped with many tractor beams and small replication facilities to accomplish its task. Since it is often deployed near « hot zones » it was fitted with a reinforced shielding system.

    NOTES

The V’Geren Armored Transport is a common short-range Romulan assault troop carrier. The design specifications called for a simple craft that could be constructed in large numbers and which would be very sturdy, being able to withstand the conditions of hostile-area drop zones. The V’Geren is well appreciated for both its versatility and its ruggedness. The V’Geren can either beam its complement of assault troops and light crafts to the surface, ferry some of them down via shuttles or land directly on the surface to allow the troops and crafts to disembark. The V’Geren’s ability to absorb damage without affecting its vital system almost borders on the legendary. Most of the craft’s critical systems can sustain a direct hit and still be functionning after. The V’Gerens are always deployed in wings and those wings are always attached to a battle group. The V’Gerens never operate without proper screening escorts.

    EDGES AND FLAWS

    Prototype (beam –1) [None]

    NOTES

The Selten-Class Cargo Transport is the Romulan fleet’s standard transport vessel. In its standard configuration it is designed to ferry cargo within the empire without escorts or with escorts in more sensitive areas, given its limited tactical abilities. Even then, many Seltens fell victim to attacks by Nausicaan pirates or renegade Klingons. In 2358 a second version of the class was developped with upgraded tactical capabilities. The class was fitted with a Class 2 cloaking device, upgraded disruptors, shields and sensors ; all at the cost of some cargo capacity. The uprated version is externally undistinguishable from the former version on long-range sensors, a feature which proved to be quite a surprise to many would-be pirates.

Hey Snake, great designs. I'm going to have to copy some.

Just one question the Occupation Cruiser...Size 7? Isn't that a little small to be able to carry over 5000 troops, plus armour and ships crew?

well to start with it does have 420 units of cargo and 4 shuttlebays. You can cram a lot in there. I used the Enterprise-D as a reference; it is not that much larger and it has a crew of over a thousand, living in confortable quarters plus it can accomodate 900 passengers in spacious quarters. Now I figured that Romulan troopers, in the true spirit of D'era, wouldn't mind being bunked together in cramped quarters. Also, I've looked at the troop transports in the FASA SRMs to give me an idea. For instance Starfleet's Continent class can carry 3,200 troops, 16 heavy tanks and 50 light support vehicles. The Continent is much smaller than the Veranal.

Hey Snake, great designs. I'm going to have to copy some.
Thanks a lot! It is really appreciated, trust me. But wait until you see what Sea Tyger has come up with

Hey, did any of these have pictures to go with the designs?
    The are cool designs.

Unfortunately, these are designs of classes that are just listed in Way of D'era (and not given stats for), so, there are no pictures to work with.

Also, I should be able to start posting the ships I built for this project starting Wednesday or Thursday...

Well, I guess I'll just have to start drawing starships again.
Can't let all those art classes go to waste.

I seem to remember there being some sections in the LUG trek Way of D'era book - side view and front view type of thing in the source book and colour versions on the large hand out thing. It's not the same I guess, but if I get a chance i could scan in my copies and I guess it would have to do. I am guessing these aren't the LUG versions (I don't have my book handy)?

We didn't cover the ships that were given stats in the Way of D'era book (I wrote those up some time ago).

This project was specific to the classes of ships that appeared in the sidebar near the beginning of that section, but were not given stats for in the book.

Aside from the name and class (and what few tidbits of information we could glean from the text), these ships are purely our creation.

Here are some sketches I made for other Romulan starships. I thought running into D'Deridex-class ships all the time was overdoing it.
