Very nice pics! I like those much better than the ships done for the LUG Romulans. Yours actually look Romulan.

Yes, i do get the sense that the Romulans only get to have one ship because that's all that they ever designed for them!

I quite liked your designs, though I prefered the more traditional 2 nacelle arangement in the last two.

I really loved the wee little Romulan shuttle ship we saw only once in DS9, and I would love to see a mid sized version like that, somewhere between the monstrous proportions of the D'Deridex and that ship. I think the Norexan Class went some way towards that, but it's still big! The descriptions in the LUG book represented a nice range of vessels, only the images did not appeal as much, they were rather oddly proportioned!

Well, I think the first one had the nacelles in between the wings to keep them safe from weapons fire.
I have a few others too, those just looked the best. I have a lot of drawings stacked around here.

But I'm glad ya'll like them.

    Finally,

I really like the Romulan designs from the computer game Armada:

    http://www.st-armada.com/romships.htm

and this design of unspecified origin:

Oooh shiny! I like those, are there more polished versions of them somwhere?

The seperate one is also pretty nice, a smaller version of the Warbird, with a simplified design.

    Angry

goddamit! I wanted to edit my post with my 1st pic and then it got all screwed up!!!!!

    here's the original post:

"Anton, your Romulan designs are very nice. As a matter of fact I'm sure all of them could fit several of the D'era designs.

I've came up with a few 'top-view' B&W counter designs for Starmada and Full Thrust; here they are:"

The ships from Starfleet Command III are pretty cool, I especially liked the Shrik-class light cruiser. The Hawk and Raptor heavy cruisers are fine too.

The Praetorian-class dreadnought represents the pinnacle of Romulan warship technology and engineering. Proposed for a 2379 launch, the Praetorian expects to take over the Star Navy's most high profile duties in the Praetorian Fleet.

The dreadnought can reach speeds of up to warp 9.8, and can sustain wf8.2 under stress. Mounting devastatingly powerful twin RPT-8 plasma torpedoes, the Praetorian is supplemented by no less than five RPFD-5 disruptor banks.

Prior to the 2378 Reman uprising, the Star Navy expected the Praetorian to completely replace the D'deridex by 2391. In light of the recent uprising; however, Romulan Sector Intelligence believes that the Empire will keep all of the ships it can, to prevent any would-be opportunists from taking advantage of their weakened political "situation."

The V'tir-class warbird was originally intended to be an upgrade of the D'deridex-class heavy warbird, but political forces that supported the D'deridex program and other elements within the Star Navy changed the V'tir program's direction in mid-development.

After first scaling down the vessel's size, designers were given no fewer than six conflicting mission requirements. They attempted to compromise as best they could, but the end result was less-than-spectacular and failed to meet any expectations.

While a capable warship, the V'tir is notoriously slow both in and out of warp. Life support and operations, although reinforced, are substandard for a vessel its size, and the newer Class 4 cloaking device was not installed as a "space saving" measure. Undersized warp and impulse drives were installed in lieu of newer models, to allay cost overruns that threatened to overwhelm the program at almost every turn.

The V'tir was not produced in large numbers as the admiralty and Senate were displeased with the ship, despite its capable service and good reviews from the crews. In spite of its political "unpopularity," a full third of the V'tir's produced are still in active service in senatorial fleets.

Built as a heavy patrol vessel and "flag waver" along the Klingon and Taurhai borders, the D'Sera-class has diligently protected imperial borders for over 35 years. A highly-advanced vessel for its day, the D'Sera's age is starting to show itself, and the wabird is finding itself relegated to lesser duties as newer vessels like the T'varo and T'kassan push to the front lines of imperial defense.

Well-armed for a warbird its size, the D'Sera sacrifices a cloaking device -- a distinct disadvantage in most cases -- in favor of a rare show of force...just enough to assure the enemies of Romulus that they are, in fact, being scrutinized. Even with such an open mission profile, the D'Sera rarely operates without support from a cloaked warship.

The Ganum-class bird of prey represented the last of its breed at the dawn of the 24th Century as the empire moved toward a new class of ship: the warbird. But while it was the last bird of prey to be commissioned, the Ganum paid homage to the V-8 Tellus Bird of Prey. Atmosphere capable and mounting a twin RPT-1 plasma torpedo launcher, the Ganum performed above expectations in its role as a forward scout cruiser.

The last Ganum was produced in 2319, and the class was completely phased out by the end of the 2330s, leaving the Star Navy without a Bird of Prey in its inventory for nearly 50 years.

Where the Praetorian-class dreadnought represents the latest in Romulan military technology, the Vidian-class heavy explorer is the pinnacle of exploratory technology. Building upon lessons learned from the T’rasus and Ralek programs, the Vidian mounts the latest in Star Navy sensor technology and expects to take the lead in frontier exploration by the end of the next decade.
