Hermes Class Crew Complement

Hi all

In preparation for a new TOS campaign set on the venerable Hermes Class Scout, i've put together a crew complement which i'd like your comments on.

I've taken some of the organisation from the Saladin Class blueprints which will no doubt get heavy use, but i've factored in enlisted crewmen.

I'd be keen to hear any comments..

I'd like to keep the complement around the 195 mark as this is reflected in Spacedock's write up and also on the old blueprints.

Your's is a little light on commissioned officers but I thinks it's more realistic, also don't forget non-commissioned officers. Throw in a few of them, these could be petty officers or warrant officers, real specialists with years of experience to draw upon, they make good NPCs.

Did the Hermes-class have shuttles? From the stats and pics I have seen I didn't think they had shuttlebays.

The deck plans I have showed three drop bays with a normal compliment of 3 shuttles. However that is not FJ approved material, but it makes perfect sense to me.

I have tried all night to get this to work for a crew of 195 but have been unable to do so. I will post it anyway. . .may be it will give you some ideas on tweeking your stats if you were looking to do so. This works for a crew of 243.

The Ranks/Ratings I have listed are what I suggest for the minimum for each position. Since you included shuttles in your stats I have done so as well.

Again for explanation. The SCPO as NCOIC [Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge] oversees all enlisted men in a given section or department. For example overseeing all enlisted men in the Engineering Department. The MCPO as Command Master Chief would oversee all enlisted personnel throughout the entire ship. The MCPO/SF oversees all enlisted personnel thoughout the entire fleet.

redwood973 - I appreciate you putting in the work on this, your version will be a big help.
I wanted to flesh out the crew with enlisted types, and your breakdown has done most of the work for me.
I may change some of the names (never thought corpsman, for example, sounded right on a starfleet vessel) but i'll steal from your structure big time. I've actually managed to get the complement down to 195 with a bit of trimming.

And I think you have to assume the Hermes carries shuttles...it's a science vessel after all, so i'm sticking with the Saladin Class deckplans.
