I want to turn "The Wounded" from TNG into a TOS scenario

First, a link to the synopsis:
    http://www.ugcs.caltech.edu/~werdna/...unded.rev.html

By filing off at least a couple the serial numbers and turning the aliens du jour into Romulans.

The scene where the crew is viewing the tactical display and the Cardassian envoy is emploring Picard to give up the Pheonix's exact position and shield prefix code before it can destroy the transport is so awesome that I'm going to replicate it almost exactly, complete with an animated tactical display as a play aid.

Some ideas I'm playing with so far:

    - The Captain of the Rougue vessel was a former Starfleet counterintelligence officer who lost his wife and daughter and was almost killed himself by a bomb attack from a rougue Romulan agent he was tracking in Fedaration space.

    - The Romulans will take every opporunity to glean intelligence from every interaction with the PCs and their ship.

    - The rougue officer may very well not have specific accusations that he'll make to justify his attacks. The PC's Vessel may very well have to destroy him.

    - The PCs will have the opportunity to effect the game's Universe drastically. The crisis will prevent the opportunity both to further diplomacy, or if the PCs aren't careful, to move the two powers back to the brink of war.

    Comments, suggestions?

Naturally, I'll explain that it is at least few years after the events of The Ballance of Terror.

Personally I'd change it from the Romulan's to the Tholian's since they were more known to attack Federation ships at the time.

    True.

However the Tholians are simply too alien to do the scenario without major revision. Their requirement for a searing-hot methane environment would make it virtually impossible for the PC's to host a group of Tholian observers on their vessel, and I think element of the scenario offers some of the best chances for roleplaying and conflict.

You could try the Klingons. What with Cold War tensions between the two races, and the not so honorable nature of TOS Klingons, it fits.

I was thinking the same thing. I think it would work rather better with the Klingons, and it would be easier to reference recent hostilities.

Remember TOS Klingons are barbarians who live only for conquest and war. They'd hunt the Starfleet vessel down themselves and would try their best to keep anyone from interfering in their glorius battle.

That isn't necessarily true. And under the auspices of the Organian Peace Treaty, their hands are likely tied. Of course, that would raise the question of why the Organians didn't intevene against the rogue Starfleet vessel, but those Organians are pernickity folks. Maybe they just want to see how both sides react.

You may even have the Organians require Star Fleet to intervene or have it considered it a treaty violation. With the Klingons openly accepting help and secretly trying to undermine your crews efforts.

This of course begs the question of the crew "Why don't they just use their powers to resolve the situation themselves."

To which the obvious answer would be "They want to teach you something."

Which fits in perfectly with the morality play format of TOS.
