I'm curous to know why both the Rogue and especially the Ferengi are going allong with it? Probably Lots of latinum, but then this creates an additional complication, because they will hoard it and want to buy silly weapons (I can hear the munchkins coming!) - and more importantly what's to stop them blabbing and enraging the klingon!
From what else you've said, it already sounds like the 'one trick pony' Pilot will come unstuck once away from the console. The klingon has probably got excelent fighting stats, but if they face an even number of enemies your party as a whole will ballance that issue out. Besides, no matter how tough he is, even a klingon hit by stun on a phaser will go down!
This is one of the things about Startrek weapons, everyone goes on about how namby pamby they are, but I have to disagree alot - a weapon that can cleanly take out an asailant is a remarkable tool. On the conventional battlefield you would have a big problem, but there's nothing to stop you from just then beaming them up to your Brig right away.
Hmmm Isiolinear Tag weapons *drool* me has had an evil idea!
